They have done well in the Djarum Indonesia SS and Yonex-Sunrise Malaysia Open GP Gold 2009, with a QF and SF finish (could be higher if they beat Koo/Tan today, but, SF is the target and they have achieved it). I also expect them to reach at least QF next week in Manila. With all the points they won in the 3 consecutive tourneys, they will rise to the top 20 for sure. Setting a reasonable QF target for them at the Macau and Chinese-Taipei Open GP Golds and 2 more R16 finish at Japan & China-Masters SS will complete their 10 tourneys quota and they SHOULD REPLACE Bona/Ahsan and Rian/Yoke as INA's no 2 pair by end of September 2009, with a WR of 7 to 10. The top 6 in MD will still be: Kido/Hendra, Koo/Tan, Paaske/Rasmussen, Jung/Lee, Boe/Mogensen, and Fu/Cai. I believe Pelatnas might still need to rely on AG/Alvent's experience for the Thomas Cup campaign next year.
hendra aprida gunawan will feature in 2 semi finals today..the md and xd and yeah, he's a hard smasher
With the SF finish at the SCG Thailand Open GP Gold, Hendra A. Gunawan/Alvent Yulianto Chandra will rise to the top 10 when the rankings are out next week. With 2 more GP Gold tourneys in Macau and Chinese-Taipei that they should participate in next mth, they should reach the QF in both tourneys and their rankings will go up further to as high as no 7, depending on the results of the other pairs
right....shame really....i believe that they've got a slightly bigger chance than bona/ahsan and obviously miles ahead of rian/yoke (sorry to say)
Hendra A. Gunawan/Alvent Yulianto Chandra FINALLY won their first International title in the Astec Ultra Milk Indonesia International Challenge 2009, as widely expected ever since I saw their names in the draw list. With the 4000 pts won, they will climb up to no 8 in the World in just under 8 mths! Their next target has to be winning a GP/GP Gold Event this year! With some luck in the draw, they could probably win the Chinese-Taipei GP Gold.
this pair has a lot of potential. they just need more time and exposure to eventually develop solid court awareness to sustain a better attacking game.
