With two days gones here is my review so far, and predictions for QF onwards.

In general I think the super series has improved the quality of the games in the main draw , and it is difficult to stop watching the games as there is always one good game on. Also day 2 was much better as with only three courts to watch the atmosphere, even for an early round was much better.

Unfortunately the RPS for me has taken the edge off the best games, as there will (IMHO) be no Classsic games anymore as the atmosphere and tension never gets to what it did in a really good match up in OSS.

Any way on with the performances.

    MSD1:

Lin Dan was never really troubled by Roslin, despite the scoreline, when he wanted too he always had an extra gear. Sony diwi Kuncoro looked fit again and impressive against a decent oppoonent in Bjoern joppien.

The big story of the first was of course gade though. To put it simply Dicky played a perfect game, made very few unforced error, and tactically played a very simple game that unsettled Gade. He was hitting gade to the rear court 90% of the time even the smashes were being flicked over gades head, gade got frustrated as he wanted to be attacking the net, and eventually gade ran out of Ideas. Dicky was very calm and controlled throughout. Gade though was dissapointing in that he didn't change his tactics, he kept on playing drops and smashes instead of clearing and making Dicky force the game. When he did clear it often paid off as he has better technique than Dicky so does not need to play faster.

A few good games here. Saina Nehwal defeating Raj of MAL was a good game, but Saina was always favourite. She has very good technique, hits the shuttle well, and has good stamina. With time she will become more accustomed to playing important points well and spotting here opponents weaknesses mid game. she could become a challenge for top top WS players.

Petya Nedeltcheva is also another good player, she beat tine rasmussen in three game through better fitness, and tine making a number of errors. She has limitations in her technique and physical attributes that will limit her ability to be a world beater IMHO though.

    MDD1:

Djarum players had a bad day here, Eng Hian seemed not interested in fighting for the game, he seemed disinterested in the fight, and when his partner made errors the game was up. Sigit seemd to have the fight still though but he is not so athletic anymore, he worked hard in a tough game against KKK/TBH he controlled the game well, but his partner is not at a level which they could win points and get the shuttle on the floor.

...........................................As a contest this is not an issue, when CHN 4th Pair beat the best of the rest LHJ/LKW you know it is over.

Kudos to the SCO pair who beat JPN pair though.

    XDD1:

I was interested to see how come ZB/GL are unbeatable to date, and after D1 was still searching for answers, they were un remarkable in style, but ZB is a good player, who works hard and is tactically aware, and with Gao able to finsh the shuttle at the net, and hold her own in defence they are strong together. Not unbeatable though. TIme will tell if this set of results is a flash in the pan. Zheng is very driven and similar player to Zhang Jun hope he can play the big ones (OG/WC) like Zhang could.
