Are you sure? His name in the official ranking list has it as "II" as in two capital i's. I have seen another minor Korean player's name listed as two i's as well. Perhaps it's common in Korea.

    Upper case i is I
    lower case L is l
so it looks like Il but sometime printer maybe see the l as I.

Similarly as 1 liter or 1l, not 1L but sometime 1 and l are misread as in normal writing we don't draw one like 1 but written as l.

    BTW, i know 0 korean:(

i would say II, meaning 2 in roman numbers

i would say II, meaning 2,

that means there are two of them out there, one the real one(I), the other one is the clone (II).

Maybe they implanted super electronic devices in his clone body and brain . so his badminton skills are boosted. :D

By the way, his playing is very lousy lately, anyone realised that?

It's "il" and read as in "eel"

I like his game but yes, he hasn't been performing well lately. Although he won the Olympics try-out recently :)

it's definitley IL (upper case) il (lower case). IBF official site made a mistake on this.

Good guess, pretty close. Actually, IL in Korean means one, instead of two. So your guess is pretty close.

By the way, Lee Hyun Il has a very good name as a badminton player. Hyun in Korean means "string". Il means "one" or "first". So Hyun Il means the first stringer
