A Lil About Me

hi my name is Gilbert Chew & im new to these badminton forums but not to badminton. Im Chinese/Malaysian and I live in Melbourne, Australia.
I was 1st introduced to badminton when I was about 7 or 8 by my father, but started to get interested when I was 12. Im fourteen years old now and in year 9.
I started getting coaching last year with Xin Jiang...I dunno if you've heard of him but he used to play international doubles for China. I play every Friday after school and on Saturday night I have training. I hope to train a lot more next year.

Im the top seed for the school intermediate badminton team (Balwyn High School) and last term we won the state finals for the 3rd year in a row. This year was quite different because it was the "Intermediate" division and I had to play against some year 10's...but I am proud to say that I did not lose any singles matches! Our team consisted of 4 year 9's and 1 year 10 (my brother). I think it is a shame that there are no strong badminton players besides my teamates (who are also my good friends) and one year 12...but it kind of makes me feel that I have a special skill which nobody else posesess. Next year we will have an even better team because all of my teamates are getting coached with me. It is really quite amazing how much coaching improves your game...you learn things such as correct grip, strokes and footwork which in my opinion is the hardest of all.
