I know our local provider is working on it for our region. Just as HD video benefited and benefited from OG 2008, I think 4K will too from OG 2016.
True but how many can afford 4k TV or is willing to buy a new 4k one so soon when their not-too-old 1080p Full HD TV is still in quite good condition (as in my case). Besides, I believe the TV broadcaster would want to maximize their returns at optimal cost-benefit analysis and not unnecessarily invest more in 4k streaming which is not sufficiently widespread yet. CMIIW. Anybody knows the percentage of 4k TV owners worldwide ? If it's not cost-effective for the broadcaster,I doubt they'd go for it at this time. Just like PC hardware which is well ahead of software development, except for high-end games, most software today can run on older hardware, as far back as 8 to 10 years old, if I'm not wrong, so as to maximize their profits.
Not for badminton per se, but for Rio OG. Telus Optik TV, Intensity. http://www.telus.com/en/bc/tv/new/optik-4k
south of your border, NBC is doing it.. NBC is making 4K UHD HDR footage of the 2016 Games available for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, swimming competitions, track and field, basketball, the men’s soccer final and judo competitions via a 24 hour tape delay. Thus, while the footage made available by NBC won’t be live, its delayed version will offer a visual experience that blows live HD streaming of the Games completely out of the water in terms of overall quality. http://4k.com/news/2016-rio-olympic...-games-in-uhd-with-hdr-and-atmos-sound-14912/ NHK and BBC were broadcasting in 8k during the London Olympics. http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/20...-technology-ahead-of-2020-games/#.V5WtEeyqpBc
May I ask: In which country should my VPN reside in order to me being able to watch the bwf livestream? Any experience with that on former tournaments?
I think you can let your VPN reside on United States of America (USA) as there is no geo blocking at all for that country.
the US vpn didn't work for me during the US open. i guess a good bet would be The Netherlands considering their liberal system
