For the past 10 years, the nick name given to Prannoy is Giant killer. But the problem is , he win top player and get defeated in the next round. That's why , he could not achieve independently even though he won Thomas cup( team event). He has been trying different methods and consulting psychologists and have been practicing some new techniques including breathing techniques. This year he is going steady . Good work . Keep it up prannoy

hehe, I like the way that Nishimoto was underdog, he will play without pressure.

    Nishimoto will win Kunlavut.

About Momota, people talk much, but I think Momota played quite good.

Momota don't be Momota 2019 but his performance was acceptable.

Even Viktor can lose to Prannoy, why cannot Momota ?

So I just saw the second half of the 2nd set between Prannoy and Momota. Momota was making some uncharacteristic unforced errors. Several times, Momota lifted the shuttle short to the back, while he wasn't under any pressure. The shuttle was way short, it would have fallen short of even the double's back service line. Needless to say, those lifts were a gift to Prannoy and he got the easy smash on Momota.

In Momota's prime, I don't think he would have lifted short to the back, if he wasn't under any pressure. It's little things like this, that separates prime Momota from 2022 Momota. The weird thing is, Momota is still under 30 years of age so stamina shouldn't be an issue yet. I guess Momota is like Antonsen - they peaked a few years ago, and they keep going downhill since then.

I didn't know Carolina Marin is back. Is Carolina Marin gonna pull a LD from 2013? That is, LD didn't play any tournaments at all in 2013, but he walks in and wins the WC anyways. Haha, I hope Carolina Marin can do it! It would be a great story for her, since she missed the Olympics with her injury. Spain could use a great story like Carolina Marin now in badminton!

Edit: Nevermind, I saw that Carolina Marin won the European Championship this year! What a comeback for her, to go from injured to winning the European Championship! Watch out, if Carolina has her fitness and form from the European Championships, she is a contender for this WC!

Should change to another racket, or back to Astrox 99 orange or 88d 4u.

Momota was not smashing-players like Lee Zii Jia, Loh Kean Yew or Viktor, I don't know why he choose his racket heavier and heavier.

I've heard that "Z force II pro" will be the next, OMG, It will destroy Momota and even Yonex.

If Yonex forced him to play a heavy racket, It would be terrible for both.

definitely thinks so. Even LS is already better (3rd fav from the bookmakers. Momota is cooked and is very sad. He was at the peak of his career already can smell the OlympicGold before crash and covid. My partner always said his career is the most tragic of all. Seeing how he scampers around just to retrieve the shuttle in ThomasCup against Ginting (which he didnt or cant really show today) is close to tears.

Despite WC , you will never say he is the GOAT so just winning WC and even 15SS isnt enough. You need longevity too thats why LCW and LD debate always rages on. If LD has won only 1/2 WC no doubt LCW is the GOAT but LD won 5 WC.

Five years after starting his downfall Lin Dan still reached a couple of finals. I believe Momota will do the same, when maintaining his love for playing.

I just watched the rest of the Momota vs Prannoy match. Momota is still younger than Prannoy, but based on the way both of them were moving on the court, you would think Prannoy is younger and Momota is older. Not sure what happened to Momota's speed. Momota was just moving slower than Prannoy on the court.

Prannoy had never beaten Kento in their past 7 meetings and now he beat in straight games.
Kento was destroyed physically and emotionally in that Malaysia road accident by his Malaysian driver and since then he's no where near to his pre-accident level.

He should sue the Malay authorities for ruining his career by supplying him with a intoxicated driver to take him to the airport.

thats why. The accident has ruined his career. Accident in itself , for whoever that experienced it already spells bad omen.

Agreed on this point. I remembered I've screamed at least twice seeing he lifted without any pressure. I wonder whether his mind became blank as the match went on, or he couldn't find a tactic against Prannoy.

It is indeed sad to see a (once) dominant WR1 deteriorating like that.
