Axelsen has a lot of control which Momota no longer has.

Axelsen is playing much safer as well. He can attack at any time and score

What’s up with all these lifts to Viktor’s FH? Inviting trouble

Axelson's demolition continues. Still single digits for Momota...and the crowd is rooting for him

As somebody mentioned in Momota's thread that neutralising shots are missing in his game, his neutralising shots does not have any effect against Viktor today. He has to attack more so that Viktor will be in pressure

21-4 first game. How did Momota reach the final if he's playing like this?

He has to defend better, move him around with crosscourt shots, and control the net better. If Ginting couldn’t break down Viktor with his attack, Momota sure isn’t going to.

Still i am seeing that Slim coach in Japan's bench. He does not want to give up his seat it seems.

You might be right. The coaching directions have not favored Momota in the past. But it seems his gameplay has changed for the better in Game 2. Just a bit, he's playing from a lower center of gravity and keeping up with Axelsen's attacks, but I don't think it will be enough.

Personally, I think Momota should play like Yuta Watanabe. With that kind of energy, stamina, fire power, and court coverage, it might work.

No way. Viktor is in another level altogether. With this game, Momota could not even challenge Viktor. In this Tournament , he got 2 free rides so we could not take this Tournament final entry as his improvement. Coming months, we could clearly see where momota stands.

Nothing today. Unlike yesterday. Unlike seemed like an improvement. But today it feels like the last tournament again. Might be relative to the opponent. But....

Also I have always wondered why players let shots go when they're so close to the side or rear court lines. Drift or not, it's almost always a lost point if it's not played, but it's a potential point if they just act as if it was still in and continued playing the rally.

The lower half was much weaker in general and Momota had a walkover and a retirement. Men's Singles really is weak af at the moment (at the moment meaning post covid).
