Good news, Switzerland, the garden of Europe. is a great location and Basel is well qualified to hold such a major event. I even felt that the Swiss Open should be reinstated to Superseries status as it was from 2007 to 2010.

They better get handle the organizing responsibility to someone else.
I know it was only a gpg event, but the lightings n broadcasting wasn't good, the name announcement wasn't good, infact I saw them shifting the side boards n rearranging while players r playing less then a metre away

If the Swiss people know one thing, then it's how to organize things efficiently and without many words. The three times I've been at the Swiss Open finals, the organization was perfectly fine. Various (tasty) food inside the venue, good lighting and sound with good view from the audience. You could easily take a look at the warm up courts too and we managed to have a short conversation with VA and to get an autograph around there. There were a lot of other players walking and sitting around the food area and were easily approachable. All in all a very relaxed atmosphere.

The only major disadvantage for the fans is, that Switzerland in general and Basel specifically is one of the most expensive places in the world. I almost fainted when I had to pay something like 14 EUR for two cappuccinos inside the venue last year.

Anyway, WC '19 will be a mandatory visit for me (given that I'll still be breathing air by then...). Question will only be how many days I will be able to afford.

It's a pity LCW and LD will probably not play there. :(

Switzerland has never held the World Championships, as far as I know.

Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks. But it's so long ago and Switzerland is such a nice place (albeit expensive), it seems, and they have been doing a fine job of the Swiss Open for many years.

Just curious, which new country you have in mind, Europe or Asia or elsewhere ? BWF have a number of criteria to consider, eg money, popularity of the sport, organizing ability, sponsors' interest, the publicity it can generate , and the crowd and viewers it can draw if held in that location, etc.

Thailand, Bangkok city, will be holding the Thomas and Uber Cups next year, that's what they bid for.

Australia will be another very good choice for the WC. I believe the Asian players and fans would love it, not only for what Australia has to offer but for the convenient time zone.

Good idea, USA, Canada, or even Brazil, one of them should take it up, BWF need to do more for the Americas, huge potential for the development of the sport.

Anaheim is not in SF lol. Anaheim is a city in Southern California where Disneyland is, south of LA - Los Angeles.

SF is San Francisco a city not a state. The state is California. Have you ever heard of the Silicon Valley where Google, FB, Apple, Intel, Cisco are... that is called SF bay area at the Northern part of California
