I understand but world ranking serves a different purpose and has its limitations based on the fact that it takes the best 10 results across all the various tournaments played by each individual player/pair for the past one year, not calendar year, and using only ranking points earned, disregarding titles won.
That's also why we have to define the criteria for each of the awards. In other words, the WR1 is not equivalent or synonymous to, say, The Best Player/Pair in The World for a particular year, not necessarily, it's open to argument clearly.
Again,how do we compare singles and doubles ?
It's BWF Player of the Year Award not The Best Player of the Year Award, let BWF give their own awards to the players of their choice.
