    @CLELY

Just wanted to post this. At least BWF doesn't shy away from posting contrary opinions. Maybe they've realized they mucked it up.

Unfortunately, due to the quirks of qualifying, the World No. 1 Women’s Doubles pairing of Yuki Fukishima and Sayaka Hirota failed to qualify.

Three of Japan’s Women’s Doubles combinations claimed the top three spots in the HSBC Race To Guangzhou rankings.

However, with only two representatives from each nation making the top eight, and Mayu Matsutomo and Wakana Nagahara (featured image) automatically qualifying courtesy of their World Championships victory, it was down to a battle between Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi and Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota.

The former squeezed through in the final qualifying event of the season.

I hope BWF realize this and make a change so that the best players are ensured to play at WTF. It's rather weird that FukuHiro fails to qualify to WTF but got nominated in the female player of the year. This really contradicts WTF's purpose.

Which is why they probably won't win the award as well to deflect controversy.

Can't wait for the draw tomorrow.

My personal favorites for WTF 2018:
    MS - Ginting
    WS - TTY
    MD - Minions
    WD - JPN
    XD - Wang/Huang

Kim Astrup is 184cm??:eek: He doesn't look it.

Yeah, some of the heights are unexpected. Maybe you can't believe about his height because of his "baby face" looks. Minions are short. But, Yuta is a bit shorter (his height is a bit higher than I expected). I don't think height has much impact in doubles.

Not a good draw for Chinese pair being in the same group.

Damn, few days ago, I made this group just for fun. But, this group has become reality. WOW, IT'S REALLY SPOT ON. Prepare for some explosion in this group. Expect the CHAOS!

Meanwhile, KM's group is really easy. He can easily advance to SF. This also means the players who are in the same group as KM have the chance to go to SF.

WS groups are so ideal. ZBW and ML are placed separately. Looking from the groups, they have a chance to go to SF.

That means group A is the group of death. Anyone who qualifies from group A will be tired.. I imagine all 4 has similar qualities and have a good chance.

Momota will probably be grateful for the lucky break. In the week up to December 2, he participated in the All Japan Championships, and just yesterday he played against Sakai in an S/J League match. He took the flight to Guangzhou this morning.
