Depends on the convention being used actually

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continent

The separation of North America and South America as individual continent is used mainly in English speaking country.

In Indonesia, the convention used is actually to consider America as a single continent

    just FYI actually

Have two players withdrawn in MS so that Number 10 in Race to Guangzhou, Lin Dan gets a chance to play?

Withdrawal from SSF/WTF has already happened in the past few years.

Not yet. Plus, Lin Dan is ranked 11th in Race to Guangzhou. Lin Dan can only play in WTF if one of these conditions is fulfilled.
    1. Two non Indonesian players withdrew.
    2. Two Indonesian players and one non Indonesian players withdrew.
If you ask why Indonesian players, that's because Indonesia is the only country to send 2 MS players to WTF and Jonatan, who is ranked 10th, needs to wait for other Indonesian player to withdrew so that he can qualify.

Having said that, I don't think Lin Dan even thinks about WTF. Isn't he supposed to attend the winter training camp?

Hey, guys. Let's talk about the possible group arrangements. The draw has not been announced yet, but we can think of it just for fun.

    MD Group A : Minions, Han/Zhou, Li/Liu, Kim/Anders
Minions vs Han/Zhou -> It's difficult for Minions as they lost twice to Han/Zhou this year
Minions vs Li/Liu -> World War III is guaranteed :D :p
Minions vs Kim/Anders -> If Kim/Anders win, they will pull off a totally funny celebration like never before.

What about your dream groups in WTF?

My dream groups would be :
    Minions, Liu/Zhang, Boe/Mo, Kamura/Sonoda
Well you said my "dream" group :D:D:D

But anyway I don't think they will put the same country players/pairs in the same group.

And Momota, Ginting, CTC in one group would be hell by the way

Ups, I forgot to mentioned that only qualified players are allowed.

No country separation in group stage. Also, Momota and CTC are the top seeded players, they will be drawn separately.

Haha you mean possible dream group? None then.

No country separation, really? Two INA, two CHN, two TPE pairs in MD.
Honestly there are only 2 pairs that I care from the qualified list this year, minions and Ahsan/Hendra. As long as they are not in the same group I'm fine with anything.

As for WD, my prediction would be an all JPN affair final again. Not that I mind as I like both pairs.

MD's list is weird given that most of MD top pairs don't perform well this year. I am an Indonesian. Of course, I will root for minions and daddies. Ahsan/Hendra have the chance to reach top 8 in world ranking. If that happens, there will be 3 INA MD pairs in the top 8. Wonder if this scenario has happened before. But, I am happy that INA MD can prove that INA is the best in MD department.

For WD, yeah, I favor all JPN final. It's nice to see JPN ladies play.

I think it's not so much that Marin doesn't care about the WTF, rather, it's more like she can afford to be choosy and if she feels not in good enough form to take on Tai Tzu Ying again so soon, she is reluctant to risk another unflattering defeat. Just saying.

i dont think tai is a part of reason at all. A defeat is not a thing to avoid but risk of injury is. Pbl will start soon, its a huge problem for the team if a member cant play.

I think Marin can play both the WTF and the PBL, no conflicts.

It's confirmed,He Bingjiao is not taking up the offer citing ankle injury not fully healed yet, so the vacant spot goes to Zhang Beiwen.

I think Zhang Beiwen can put up a good fight. WS will be, as always, interesting.

Is the money more in PBL?

CM definitely has a very specific plan and is willing to miss tournaments to follow that plan. Difficult to argue against her methods when she wins the world championship twice and is the Olympic champion.
