They always had the game as a pair but always let down by sozonov but he showed that he has improved leaps and bounds!

Heart-break for the Japanese, they look devastated - understandably.

    THANK YOU RUSSIA!

THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THE "SLOW, THOUGHTFUL" GAME BACK TO MEN'S DOUBLES!!

I WAS SO SICK OF THE "3-SHOT GAME" IN MEN'S DOUBLES!!!

Sorry for the all caps: just crazy happy for the Russians-- and to think they would forget to signal their serve to their partners when they started out!

Now they are hugging and doing the Kalinka together!!

Sorry Japan-- but I still love you!!!

Congratulations to the Russians. Putin will be proud of you. Your win will trigger an upsurge of interest in badminton in Russian which, hopefully , will lead to Russia becoming a powerhouse of badminton one day in the future.

Interesting changes in the WS rankings next week (if my calculation is right):

    1- Carolina Marin =
    2- LXR =
    3- WSX +2
    4 - NO +4
    5 - RI -1
    6- SN -3
    7- WY -1
    8- SJY -1
    9- TTY =
    10- SY =

Great to see Okuhara closer to top 3 :)
