7th meeting, Sun Yu vs Nozomi Okuhara. Who will step ahead?

In fact, Sun Yu never won twice in a row against Nozomi Okuhara. All their previous meeting ended in straight game.

I think NO will take the chance to win this time.

I wonder what's ailing Ahmad/Natsir? They have to buck up as they lost the first set to the Danish pairing of Rasmussen and Fruergaard.

True he's considered a great player but with a big BUT by many and everyone knows what it is.

No one is saying Olympic medal IS NOT a great honor. Frost has praised LCW numerous times before he was even appointed BAM director. Speaking of which, he IS the reason LCW was selected as national player in the first place when BAM actually looked down upon this frail-looking player.

A lot of things matter when it comes to assess a player. The longevity, consistency, overall performance over the years, etc. In fact, LCW has received BWF Player of the Year for four times despite not winning a GOLD medal from BWF World Championships or Olympic Games. Because Superseries matters. For the record, it is 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2013. It's the honor to recognize the best male player of the year.

Perhaps he should have 100% winning rate without a big BUT. Unfortunately, he can never do that.

You could worship LCW to your heart content but there's no need to under play the Olympics. Even Frost, Rexy, PJB, or LYB who no longer play on the court now thinking hard using all strategies for their players to get medals for this pinnacle event. It's not only a battle of active top players on court but also former legends off court as their masterminds.

A serious wake-up call priors to Rio 2016, last week they also succumbed to Danish new partnerships, Astrup/Kjaersfeldt.

Congratulations to Rasmussen and Fruergaard for their brilliant form in disposing off Ahmad and Natsir. Two first round exits for this top Indonesian pair is cause for concern.

Sun Yu once again surprised her more favoured first round opponent, after Ratchanok Intanon last week, this time Nozomi Okuhara got early exit, 21-23 / 21-17 / 21-19.

There are so many things that we can really do in our live. There are so many meaningful things that we can really do instead of just keep arguing and arguing non stop.

Well there is no such need to belittle a player achievements. Lee Chong Wei himself is already a great player. Action speaks louder than voice. He has proven it so many times already. As for me I can conclude that Lee Chong Wei himself is already a great MS player that Korea would dream to have but unfortunately we don't have it. Even the so called great Korean MS player Lee Hyun Il achievement is pale in comparison to Lee Chong Wei.

But then come on why such a need to compare. To all the Malaysians Lee Chong Wei is already a good MS player. There is no such need to belittle his achievements.

As for us Koreans we will just continue to be happy with Lee Hyun Il achievements because to the Korean Lee Hyun Il is indeed the best MS player. Just like the example of Lee Chong Wei. He is already a good MS player holding the rank no 1 for so many years already.

If can I also didn't want to say this but then there has been too much arguments thus far about Lee Chong Wei achievements. No need to keep arguing. Arguing leads to nothing. We may win the argument but lose the friendship.

So it is time to stop arguing and do more meaningful things in life such as helping those people in need.

Sun Yu has given notice now that she is in the vanguard for the next wave of women singles players from China.

I also want to take this opportunity to congratulate Goh Jin Wei the young prodigy who won her game over Michelle Li just now. She may be young but she has this great display and talent in her. All the best Goh Jin Wei. I believe that you can go far.

The foxy Tai Tzu Ying has outplayed the gutsy Sayaka Sato in three games. After TTY's euphoric win in Jakarta , she is certainly a serious frontrunner in WS.

Worship him? That's exaggeration. How is merely stating the fact and BWF's regulation equal to worship him? I only worship Buddha and Dhamma and no one else. :D

No, I don't think LCW is even close compared with arahants or Buddha. He is a mere mortal. :D Those saints couldn't care less about the worldly honor. They are free from suffering and our life guidance. LCW? Not even close. But no doubt he is the icon of Badminton.

India coach P. Gopichand was certainly impressed by Chong Wei’s comeback after serving an eight-month doping ban in April last year.

“He has been a wonderful ambassador for the sport all these years. If Chong Wei stays focused and fully fit, he will be difficult to beat in Rio,” said Gopichand, the 2001 All-England champion.

    http://english.astroawani.com/sports-news/chong-wei-be-flag-bearer-rio-olympics-107100

"Chong Wei has been selected as the flag bearer for our contingent. I think he deserves it. He has been an icon in Malaysian sports for a long time. By giving him the honour, it will also motivate him... as a leader of the team." said Olympic Council of Malaysia president Tan Sri Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja'afar

Congratulations too to dear Kim Hyo Min for winning her hard fought WS match today. This young girl hardly have any opportunity to go out for tournaments. Too much emphasis given to Olympics 2016 players.

Anyway glad that she managed to spring in a surprise win today despite lack of exposure.

Sun Yu beat Nozomi Okuhara again (the previous time at the SIN Open in April) after besting Intanon Ratchanok the other week at the INA PSS, that just a couple months before Rio against two top Olympians, no mean feat certainly.

Sun Yu is improving slow and steady, she is on course to be among the top few after Rio , I think.

Joy Lai not a shabby opponent, it seems. 11-10 up in G2 vs Saina, after dropping G1,10-21.

On hindsight, Sun Yu should've closed it out in two sets, holding two gamepoints in the 1st set but failed to convert and lost the deuces 21-23.

Nozomi is well-known for her perseverance and tenacious defence with superb court coverage, she's never an easy opponent to beat. You require a lot of patience, persistence and focused to overcome her resistance, remarkable for Sun Yu to win such a long, hard-fought ;close match with her. Keep it up.

Since 2013, women's singles is getting very excited indeed. We simply couldn't predict who will win.
