These two MAS 'old' warhorses, Koo and Tan, are making their experience count of late, and playing with renewed vigour as well, good for them.
The match is finally over. Kevin / Gideon won the match. Congratulations they really played very well today. Koo Kien Keat / Tan Boon Heong played very well too today.
can see Gideon/Kevin both are shorter than Koo/Tan when they shook hand each other... no wonder they win in flat play instead of smash attack, unless they both play like Jung Jae Sung the big smasher...
A great start of the year to Markus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo as they win their first GPG title, adding to their Chinese-Taipei GP title last year. This should see their ranking up another 1-2 spots. I personally don't think they will qualify for the Rio Olympics, unless they win 1-2 more tourneys (including SS tourneys) in the next 2-3 months before the qualification period ends. Nevertheless, if PBSI continue to retain this partnership, I hope they can start to beat top pairs like Lee/Yoo and Fu/Zhang in the next few months. Kevin (as I predicted a few years ago when he was still a junior player for PB Djarum) is definitely starting to show his potential in the senior level and he's only 20 years old (turning 21 this year)!
Great display once again bu both the WD. A very exciting match indeed. Seems like the Japanese WD are leading.
Wow so happy to see Park Joo Bong coaching the Japanese WD. He is giving them good tips and advice. Park Joo Bong you are back.
Tang/Yu somewhat tentative and indecisive in their shotmaking , lacking in their usual aggression, for a start. The JPN OTOH re prepared to defend all the smashes from the CHN. On top of that, the CHN pair is also making many uncharacteristic errors in G1.
Much as how I want the China WD to win it is going to be very difficult now. The Japanese are trailing with huge scores 17-9.
Tang YT must regain her confidence to attack aggressively at the right time, defending and placement shots are not her specialty.
That's Pan Li, the CHN WD coach, well-respected and well-loved by most of the CHN ladies' (both WD and XD) doubles players, a mother figure to them.
TYT's forte is her smashes and her opponents all know that, still she has to improve on her defence and front-court play.
