2016 TOTAL BWF TUC Finals - Day 8 (22nd May) : THOMAS Cup FINAL

At last some nation outside the Asian continent does break the ice, winning the Thomas Cup for the very first time.

Now the number of countries winning the Thomas Cup equalizes the Uber Cup, both have five members.

Still a very exclusive club, as limited as the number of nations having the true aerospace industries!

Yes. SDK should be slightly better than Vittinghus.

Yeah. That's my point. I understand that they would like to give more exposure to youngsters but for crucial match like this, experienced players shall be fielded I believe.

This strategy is used by Denmark to field all the three main players (as opposed to field Emil Holst).

no need be too harsh on CL, I think he will recover. That day SWH played really well, and CL should break the rhythm of play to win, no play with the same old ways.
On team events? I doubt it. Anyway he won't be joining the next Thomas cup.

Folks, if you like volleyball, don't miss the FIVB Women's Volleyball World Grand Prix 2016 tournament, it kicks off on 09 June 2016 for nearly one month! One of greatest treats for volleyball fans.

Denmark, don't forget to thank Korea, particularly Son Wan Ho, for stopping CHN in the QFs.
Can also thank LCW, who recommended that CWF re-join the national team--CWF totally give away the deciding semi-final match to Emil Holst, totally wasting the window of opportunity an injured JOJ gave Malaysia.

In relatively close tournaments like this year's, there was no ONE turning point for any of the teams, but many...

Is team Cuba still the strongest?
Used to like volleyball years ago.

How can you be sure-- unless you also know that Li Yongbo wont be head coach of team China by the next Thomas cup?

Chen Long is a pretty much a pushover character-wise and can/will be cajoled to play again as long as Li Yongbo is in charge-- when interviewed, even LCW and LD half-jokingly said, "maybe next time...", and these are players who see the Thomas Cup as a point of personal/national pride; someone like Chen Long who doesn't take things to heart won't really mind either way.

If only PBSI set asides their ego to call Sony as the third single, the scoreline may be 3-2 for INA.
They might not even think they would have the chance to play that far ... had the winning chance in the final, yet faced a situation like this, lacked of the powerful 3rd single!

it's possible also, they will make you pay with blood if you make the boss lose face. But I think he will redeem himself in Rio Olympic.

These political discussions annoy me. What about you?
Do you realize that your posts are probably more annoying? Mostly trying to sound clever, to ridicule and to belittle. This kind of behavior reflects immaturity, Also, when a person makes ridicule his main occupation, it means he is a non- achiever. Because people who have really achieved are really humble and they do not ridicule or canvas for support to ridicule or use name calling as part of an argument .

But perhaps, the thread should be started first the night before.
By using the "Edit" function, you can add your summary, highlights and write-ups later in the morning. Just an idea..
Ok, thanks for your advice ;)

Denmark did it to be 5th country to win Thomas Cup, what a touchy moment when their players cried to celebrate big victory and create new history for Danish badminton. Congratulations for the champion also runner-up Indonesia and bronze medalists, Malaysia and Korea as well!

Viktor Axelsen paved the way to Danish team triumphant to overcome Tommy Sugiarto. The Indonesian had chance to force rubber games when Sugiarto led 18-15 but the tall Dane enhanced the tempo suddenly to attack and Sugiarto made an error at critical situation.

Two doubles point were owned by Indonesian pairs as Conrad/Kolding and Astrup/Rasmussen couldn't do too much to thwart Ahsan/Setiawan and Pratama/Suwardi fast and furious style also excellent blocking at front area.

Jorgensen outmaneuvered the less experienced Ginting and the man who played important role against Malaysia, Hans Kristian Vittinghus once again showed his calm and maturity to keep focus in deciding match, he totally controlled the second game to down the nervous and frustrated Mustofa.

The final outcome is going to world ranking, Denmark has three singles player where their WR are higher than Indonesia and INA failed to steal one point from their singles.

And also China for not keeping her side of the bargain. With home ground advantage and a strong team, she should have easily won all her ties 3-0. It's good we have a new winner and a deserving one after so many tries. Thomas Cup has left Asia. Will Uber Cup be next? Spain comes to mind but unlikely.

Denmark Indonesia Korea Malaysia and China had almost the same chance to be the champion!

Congratulation Denmark!

Final Thomas 2012: China vs Korea
Final Thomas 2014 : Japan vs Malaysia

All different countries be the finalist in the last 3 Thomas Cup. Nice!
