I think Xu gets bashed way too often. His defence is alright and he's good at closing down the mid court. Ma jin was the weak link vs the polish pair yesterday

You can't possibly defend his performance in the first game. It was horrific for such a high level pair. And watching this pair over the years, it's very clear he's the weaker player, relatively speaking.
Also, he has the weaker defence of the two (not relatively - objectively), which is always a bad sign.

I didn't watch the first game, so i'll take your word for that :p
I agree he's the weaker player, but that's because MJ is an exceptional XD player, rather than XC being bad. I don't think MJ has a better defence tho, way too commited to the backhand side

Hahah wow that was lucky :D Xu Chen opened up half the court and got away with it thanks to Pedersen's error. 3-3

Boom! Xu shows his strength. Smashes the shuttle to the ground for a 5-3 lead.

Xu is usually very committed to the BH side as well, and gives weak, half-court replies when surprised on his forehand side...Ma Jin usually plays better defensive shots. But I agree that she's very committed to her BH side as well, too much so.

7-4. How can Pedersen by surprised by that shot? Xu has played it from the position like every single time he lost the attack with a premature smash... :D
