OMG unlucky net cord on match point :O End of the road for Nozomi :'(

What a gift on match point at 20-19 with that smash in the net !! She will have nightmare about that tonight lol.

Nozomi didn't quite look like herself today. Very tentative shots, a lot of mistakes :/ Maybe that knee injury from India is still bothering her

    Porntip BURANAPRASERTSUK Thailand -
    Japan Nozomi OKUHARA [8]
    21-12, 22-20

well play by Porntip what i see is she try not to lift up the shuttle and made NO out of position and the Pornitp just slice the shuttle from corner to corner nice tactic.

Finally the long run of NO just stop today she was just anbeatable in the last few months, she probably just tired but its been a remarkable journey for her even she lost today.

this was a big question in my mind who will be the first one to beat this lady and here she is Porntip Well done, the WS Departement is just keep unpredictable and its a joy to predict the unpredictable things :)

Wasn't NO defeated by LXR in the semifinal of German Open earlier this year?

That too! Pretty sure all team japan was shocked by the news. Especially Okuhara since they are pretty close.

Congrats to Porntip though, she didn't let go that second game despite trailing behind.

Saina Newhal's QF is less threatening now, pretty much assured to get to the semis!

The mere mention of knee injury frightens and saddens me. I think she did not play in India.

What happened to NO ? I never thought she will lose to Portnip. But what a fight from Portnip ! ,

Even in the last tournament , she came so close to beat Li xuerui but lost . Today, she even got one better.

Sindhu defeated SJH in 2 straight games. Sindhu and SJH both have been playing in all the tournaments . They both need rest for some time. But RIO is calling !

Nozomi slightly injured her knee during practice while she was in India preparing for the the tournament! She had to fly back to Japan on Day 2 of the tournament. That's why she withdrew from India.

I know, she was awful in G1 -very slow movements around the court (the irony lol) and lots of unenforced errors, very smartly moved around by Porntip. G2 was better but in the end she missed a crucial game point opportunity & made another error to give porntip a match point. A net cord in favor of Porntip ultimately sealed the match.

Anyways, let's hope that Nozomi will come back stronger in the Singapore Open!

Congrats to Porntip for staying focus until the end ! Although I don't think she really has a chance against Saina tomorrow

i really don't like shin baek cheol's attitude sometimes especially playing mixed... i don't think that kind of annoyed at every mistake attitude is going to help his partner or himself play better..
