Though I think Russia may be slightly stronger than USA, I don't suppose it would upset the balance in Grp B.

Russia has MS Vladimir Malkov or Vladimir Ivanov and a reasonably good MD Ivanov/Sozonov whilst USA has a moderately strong WS Zhang Beiwen or perhaps Iris Wang, her MS Sattawat Pongnairat is relatively weaker and no decent MD, WD and XD pairs to speak of.

However, Russia whether in singles or doubles is not expected to trouble either JPN or TPE.

for XD, it is better to fill in these 2 pairs:

    Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying
    Tan Aik Kuan/Lai Pei Jing

as for WS, if Tee Jing Yi still under injury, for me it is better to fill these 2: Sonia Cheah or Goh Jin Wei...

Well, China are always the favourites.
What about the chances of Indonesia? They are strong in doubles.

but we are weak in singles, plus our best pairs are aging. I just hope we have a good mix of young and seasoned players

Anybody knows who was the US player that was used by mistake in the initial draw?

If I am not mistaken that player is Tony Gunawan from the men singles department. He decided not to play in the last minute.

As for Korea they have decided to field in the best players.

For men singles it will be Son Wan Ho and Lee Dong Keun.

For men doubles it will be Lee Yong Dae / Yoo Yeon Seong and Kim Ki Jung / Kim Sa Rang.

For women singles it will be Sung Ji Hyun and Bae Yeon Ju.

For women doubles it will be Jung Kyung Eun / Kim Ha Na and Chang Ye Na / Kim So Yeong.

For mixed doubles it will be Ko Sung Hyun / Kim Ha Na. (Shin Baek Cheol / Chang Ye Na) if available.

Well we'll see if they can pass through their group matches vs Denmark. Denmark has the MS, MD, WD, XD numbers.

INA's advantage over Denmark is WS, and MD.

Okay lets hope for a good match. Korea strength is definitely in their men doubles, men singles, women doubles, women singles and mixed doubles. So in the same group with India and Malaysia I think that Korea holds an advantage to top the group. No offense here but just my personal opinion. Korea is ranked second after China in the world ranking.

Sorry no offense here just my personal opinion.

    1. Son Wan Ho lose to Lee Chong Wei but he can win K. Srikanth (1 Point)

    2. Lee Yong Dae / Yoo Yeon Seong win (MAS Men doubles) win Manu Attri / Sumeeth Reddy = (2 Points)

    3. Sung Ji Hyun win Tee Jing Yi lose to Saina Nehwal = (1 Point)

    4. Jyung Kyung Eun / Kim Ha Na win (MAS Women Doubles) win Ashwini Ponnappa / Jwalla Gupta = (2 Points)

    5. Ko Sung Hyun / Kim Ha Na win (MAS mixed doubles) win (India mixed doubles) = (2 Points)

Based on the ranking and calculations Korea may top the group with 8 out of 10 points.

Anyway just my opinion and no offense here. I may be wrong.

Just my opinion and no offense here.

    India chances vs Malaysia.

    1. K Srikanth lose to Lee Chong Wei. (0 points)

    2. Manu Attri / Sumeeth Reddy lose to MAS men doubles. (0 points)

    3. Saina Nehwal win Tee Jing Yi (1 point)

    4. Ashwinni Ponnappa / Jwalla Gupta lose to MAS women doubles (0 points)

    5. India Mixed doubles lose to MAS mixed doubles (0 points)

    India chances vs Korea

    1. Son Wan Ho win K. Srikanth (0 Points)

    2. Lee Yong Dae / Yoo Yeon Seong win Manu Attri / Sumeeth Reddy = (0 Points)

    3. Sung Ji Hyun lose to Saina Nehwal = (1 Points)

    4. Jyung Kyung Eun / Kim Ha Na win Ashwini Ponnappa / Jwalla Gupta = (0 Points)

    5. Ko Sung Hyun / Kim Ha Na win (India mixed doubles) = (0 Points)

India will only get 1 point vs Korea.
India will only get 1 point vs Malaysia.
India will get a total 2 points out of 10 points so it will be very difficult to pass the group stage.

LCW is not playing for sure. MAS best chance is their WD and MD vs. India.

Koreans sure points vs. India are coming from their MD and XD. That is it. SWH will lose vs. Srikanth.

At group stage against DEN, both nations have equal opportunity in three doubles department, MS will be DEN sure point through the on-fire Jorgensen while WS is the unpredictable point.

In India vs Malaysia, both SWH vs Srikanth and SJH vs Saina are uncertain. I would say those two pairs are equal in strength

    Probably Zhang Beiwen.

Look at http://www.bwfbadminton.org/file.aspx?id=623972&dl=1 to see that the highlighted correction for USA is in WS. Points for WS corresponds to Iris Wang's. If you were to use Zhang Beiwen's points instead, the total for USA would be just above Russia's.

Then, why Zhang Beiwen is not playing in Sudirman Cup?

You really think so? Haha what an analysis..lolz
BTW only time will tell the result let's wait and pray for the best...
There's no way WHS def KS if they continue to be in same form...
SN vs SJH is a sure short point(considering her form) BYJ will be a better choice. As she can stretch SN more than SJH for sure..
No chances in other disciplines :p
But if the schedule any how feature MS and WS as the first two matches then the scenario can be diff.. The excess pressure can dump For team(the chances are slim! I accept it). Its the beauty of team championship
Whereas against MAL as somebody posted its sure LCW can't participate the MAL team after loosing MS and WS(if are first two matches in schedule) then this relatively inexperienced Mal team has no way to survive the scare under heavy pressure
