Chen, Marin lead star-studded cast at Dubai Finals

A season-ending annual BWF Superseries Finals once again will stage in dynamic Dubai, one of most popular cities in Middle East region. All top-eight participants in five categories will vying to be the best on Sunday's finale. Every player must bring their A game from the beginning in this round-robin system as only top two shuttlers of each group will advance to knock out stage.

Title-holder Chen Long will be strong favourite to repeat last year triumphant, his nearest rival should be Danish twin stars Jan O Jorgensen and Viktor Axelsen. Chen is drawn with world number two Jorgensen and two tricky opponents, Tian Houwei who reached back to back final in Hong Kong Open and Macau Grand Prix Gold recently and Hu Yun, this vast experienced Hong Kong player may trouble the Chinese ace as he did in Singapore Open this year. Viktor Axelsen is favoured to advance into last four due his impressive transformation lately while chance is open for Japanese youngster Kento Momota, Chinese Taipei Chou Tien Chen and last year semifinalist Srikanth Kidambi to secure last four spot.

First time ever for Carolina Marin to participate this prestigious event and she may end 2015 on high note, considering her outstanding and consistent performance throughout this year. Saina Nehwal, defending champion Tai Tzu Ying and newcomer of Dubai Finals Japan Nozomi Okuhara are expected to deliver stern test for reigning World Champion in group stage matches. Two Chinese former world number one, Wang Shixian and Wang Yihan will shift last year failure into better result this time, their rivals in group B will coming from former world champion Ratchanok Intanon and Korean number one Sung Ji Hyun.

Six Superseries titles of this season, Lee Yong Dae/Yoo Yeon Seong will vying seventh title and affirm their status as top contender of Rio Games next year. Joining Lee/Yoo in group of death are recent world champion Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan, world number four Fu Haifeng/Zhang Nan and Japanese duo Hiroyuki Endo/Kenichi Hayakawa. Reigning All England champion Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen have slight advantage over their opponents in group B, Chai Biao/Hong Wei, Mads Conrad-Petersen/Mads Pieler Kolding and recent China Open winner Kim Gi Jung/Kim Sa Rang.

The qualifiers for women's doubles category are more various this year with Holland pair Eefje Muskens/Selena Piek made the cut to take part in this lucrative event. Japanese high-profiled combination Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi are drawn alongside top-seed Luo Ying/Luo Yu, Korean defunct pair Chae Yoo Jung/Kim So Yeong and recent world championships bronze medalist Naoko Fukuman/Kurumi Yonao. Group B front-runner Tian Qing/Zhao Yunlei who earn wild card as reigning world champion will get tough challenge from European finest Christinna Pedersen/Kamilla Rytter-Juhl and 2015 Korean Open winner Nitya Krishinda Maheswari/Greysia Polii.

China multiple champion Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei are top contender to bag fourth Superseries Finals title as they won thrice in previous editions (2010, 2011) and last year 2014. Tontowi/Ahmad who topped Grand Prix Gold podium at homesoil few days ago are expected to redeem their lacklustre trend here, other two contestants in group A are Australian Open winner Lee Chun Hei/Chau Hoi Wah and England married couple Chris and Gabrielle Adcock. Close competition is slated for group B between second seed Liu Cheng/Bao Yixin, former champion (2009, 2012, 2013) Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen, back to back Denmark-French Superseries winner Ko Sung Hyun/Kim Ha Na and the much-improved Indonesian pair Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto.

I really wish that your predictions will be true but then for the Srikanth part I know it is going to be very difficult. Srikanth has been losing in every first round Of super series tournaments that he has participated this year so no matter how I want Srikanth to win over Kento Momota I know it is going to be very difficult.

High hopes will once again be on Lee Yong Dae / Yoo Yeon Seong to win the MD title once again this year. I believe they can still win it this time.

I know it's naive beyond belief, but of course the paramount tournament of the year save the WC has got live streams for all courts, now doesn't it?

Yeah, I know, shouldn't complain, seeing where we came from, but still... I want to watch Selena & Eefje!

Anand salvaged himself I guess. Let's see if Saina and Srikanth can too.
