Did we suddenly flash back to 3-4 years ago? Ma Jin is partnering Wang Xiaoli, and Yu Yang has been partnered with Tang Yuanting.

This is not OLY qualifying period, otherwise I am confused what the experimenting is for? WXL/YY are formidable, the pair to beat, why then split them up?

I noticed that WXL/YY haven't been playing with a strong effort lately. Because they are so much better, they seem to just roll over their opponents without giving their best effort.

Maybe LYB wants to send a message that if they don't try hard, they will be split.

CHN is out in full force here, presumably to get used to the environment, early acclimatization, for the upcoming TUC in May to be held at the same venue. Worth noting is the inclusion of Yao Xue and Liu Xin in the WS.

For CHN WDs, I guess CHN does not want to be overly dependent on their mainstay, their top and most reliable pair, WXL/YY. The split here is probably to test their respective new partnerships and to sort of buy insurance in case one of the two, WXL or YY, suffers a (temporary) loss of form or something else(hope not).
