Eh, US$400,000? I thought it is US$500,000.

Why did the Germans pull out from the All England? Did Birgit Michels get injured?

What a great battle between Holst - Lang

Lang takes it 19-21, 23-21, 25-23, in the end.

Plays Misbun (assuming he sees off Joachim Persson) later on. Misbun would be an overwhelming favourite unless he also has a long 3 set match.

Nan Wei - DKL should be a good game later.

The very tight match between Finnish Ville Lang and Danish Emil Holst finally is over with close scoreline, 19-21 and two games need extra point, 23-21 and 25-23 for Lang victory.

I am most disappointed that Daren Liew could not even get through the 1st round of the qualifying rounds, losing to Nan Wei of Hong Kong 8-21, 21-23.
He is Malaysia's number 3 MS player and he should have been able to qualify playing against the unheralded Nan Wei and yet he fluffed. I just hope that no excuses are proffered for the loss and that he should study videos of his recent performance and compare with that of his 2012 French Open win and hopefully learn a thing or two from that.

Calling Nan Wei 'unheralded' isn't really fair.

Recent results show he's a good and improving player
