If the Championship was played in Senayan Jakarta, Indonesians wouldn't do that to their own players.

Have you been following and watching closely all LXR's matches ? I mean how she played and won or lost, not just the results. Simply compare how she played in all the previous rounds here will do, if you like, with the final match, the answer is clear.

Yes they came for all the danish players in the other matches  ... This xd final started so lopsided I also switched it off to make diner. Can you blame the hungry audience?
Overall I skipped the WD and pleased/satisfied with the outcome of the 3 following matches and then skipped the (pretty much going that way) foregone xd again ...

Lee CW played so well, it's just his luck to be up against Chen Long who happened to play above himself at the right time and right place. So close, yet so far for Lee CW. As the saying goes, a miss is as good as a mile.

There was a little bit hope for Xu Chen and Ma Jin to win their world championship together... But it wasn't meant to be... :( Last year they had their biggest chance to win it against the indonesians :/ They really deserve it. Especially Ma Jin. She should get a gold medal with someone she's comfortable with.

True...what was lacking was the drive. The kinda drive that saw him won the 2014 All England. Mental pressure is really something. Ironically, LCW reminds me of Michelle Kwan during the Olympics.

oh:eek:, no wonder I saw she took a photo with Liu Yong on the training court. She also talked to him and some other more senior members (maybe coaches, maybe officials) of the Chinese team.

I was wondering why they would know a Danish TV host or actress :D

LXR and LCW both lost to the pressure of expectation. LXR was the huge favorite and I think was afraid of losing twice in a row in WC final. I think last year's loss played on her mind. It'll be a long year for her before she has a chance for redemption.

As for LCW, he played so well against his opponents. I think the fact that LD, Tago, Santoso, Jorgesson all pulled out ended up hurting LCW. When those players pulled out, it widely opened the door for LCW and there were no reasons for him to fail. LCW knew he would never get such an open door again, and that played on his mind. At times he played well, but also made a number of atrocious errors.

People started leaving already at the begining of the MS game to catch their flights. It was quite late and the arena is far from the airport. For those who travelled by public transport, it wasn't an easy day in Copenhagen. There were a lot of timetable changes and confusions due to rail work and bad weather.

I agree it was pressure of expectation.

But I also see it slightly differently. LCW was never pushed too hard through the tournament. And then, he comes to the crunch match where there is pressure of expectation, against a player who can raise the standard and get the shuttle back a lot more.

So he feels a lot more uncomfortable.

Contrast that with Chen Long who has had experience of tight situations in the arena in his previous matches but still winning. So, which person is going to be more 'match-fit' in terms of psychological preparation? Definitely Chen Long. The only thing Chen Long had going against him is the long q/f match. But he should have recovered from that two days later. The semifinal against Tommy Sugiarto was tough but, an excellent 2 game preparation for the match against LCW the next day.
