Semifinals to india uber cup team. Wow.. what a history ..

Sindhu's match was extra-ordinary and commendable performance by jwala/aswini. Kudos to indian team. Am looking forward to semifinals. Almost every member in this forum said that india will lose to indonesia by 2-3. But what happened?. India won the tie with 3-0 . Now going to semis. But it will be tough for them.

    Possible players.

    Saina vs minatsu mitani

    Sindhu vs eriko hirose

    Jwala/aswini vs ayaka/misaki

    P.c.thulasi vs akane yamaguchi

    Saina/sindhu vs miyuki maeda/reika

Think IND is favorite in both WS1 and WS2, both owing to Saina+Sindhu as well as home-country advantage. It is hard to see where the third point will come, however.

It's an EPIC match of Bella, quite understandably she felt very blue for the defeat...

quite contrasted from Linda, who didn't display such fighting spirit thus not felt so depressed either.

Well, the HOST team deserve the historic victory... and now I even think they'll play in the finals!

Can Saina/Sindhu play the long grueling rally with WD of Japan? Shouldn't Ayake Yamaguchi play as WS1 first vs. Saina?

INA needs Simon's service to proceed to the semis...

Simon Santoso will be the savior of the team!

If Kim/Kim wins the 3rd forcing a 2-2 tie with INA, and Simon is playing the decider ...

If Malaysia makes it past Indonesia tomorrow (perfectly doable), I can almost certainly see them beating China in the final.

If India makes it past Japan tomorrow (again, perfectly feasible), I can see them beating China in the final - that won't be as easy as the above prospect, though.

I think we're in for some major shocks during the weekend.

Akane Yamaguchi's ranking is lower than that of Minatsu Mitani, Sayaka Takahashi and Eriko Hirose. I think Japan will field Sayaka Takahashi against PV Sindhu since PV recently beat Eriko at the Badminton Asia Championships and also, Sayaka has played PV once, back in 2012 and had won comfortably 21-19 21-12.

Who is Hwang Joo Soo? is he a junior champion? Never die spirit of the KOREAN is making this deciding match so nerve-racking but we can't see the match. Just seeing the LiveScore

INA vs KOR goes to a decider. Hopefully Simon could win in a straight-set

The key to IND's victory over INA is, to me, largely the credit of Jwala/Ashwini, then Saina, lastly Sindhu who nearly lost it. Whether you like Jwala or not, she is some character and deserves respect for it's her partnership with Ashwini that enables IND's progress to the semifinals.

The other contributing factor could be IND's strategic lineup of WS1,WS2 followed by WD1, regardless whether it's well-thought-out or forced by circumstances due to IND not having a decent WD2, is the best set-up that maximizes IND's chances in the Uber Cup so far.

Admittedly, JPN is stronger than INA but I think IND is not without reasonable chances of upsetting them tomorrow. See how close Mitani came to being disposed of by Line K today. Even Sindhu herself was almost beaten by Bella just now. Had Bella won instead, the final outcome could have been 3-2 in INA's favour.

For JPN , as long as they can take either the WS1 or WS2, then their probability of taking the tie is higher than IND's, at least 3-2, if not 3-1, to JPN.

i think it would be more difficult for malaysia to win against indonesia than against china...malaysia would most probably have a guaranteed win in the first singles. first doubles is the point that malaysia would want to win, though judging from their form, would be rather difficult for HTH/TBH. If it does get to the 2nd doubles, malaysia would have a good chance of winning. china looks weaker this time round. it all boils down to CWF. he is THE crucial player for malaysia. if he loses...all hell breaks lose!

gutted with the danes loss though. would like to see at least one euro team in the semis. if JOJ didn't play like a beginner last night they would've already been in the semis.
