They were like sitting ducks for the ENG pair to smash.

    I agree with your take.
The same situation happened with Kenichi Tago fighting it out with Sho Sasaki.
These guys want to win on merit and not give walkover to a compatriot.

Same thing with MAS players, although the difference in level is so big.

P V Sindhu, the world bronze medalist, is just not consistent. One day she could beat SJH (S6) and the next day she would lose to an insignificant player, Kirsty Gilmour. Obviously her coach has to do something about this aspect of her game and she should be able to overcome as she is tall, young and has the skills. She could be another Inthanon.
Juliane Schenk has gone downhill since leaving the German national team and hopefully the set back is temporary. However, age is not on her side and she could just throw in the towel and maybe do coaching.

Oi, watch it! That is our only promising singles talent. Didn't watch the match but have seen PV really struggle with defense from body smashes, players starting to catch on now maybe.

Did not except Kim/Kim to lose to the English pair. The Englishmen seem to be playing good recently. HK has yet to win a match with Jan O in a BWF competition setting, one day the day will come I guess. What happened to WZM, injury?

Ma Jin's body language doesn't look good. Seems like she is blaming her partner. Must be tough being her partner. They lost to INA pair.
