An upset of sort for Bae on Saina. Somehow I feel that Bae is a trickier opponent than Saina for LXR, if only because two meetings ago Bae beat LXR in the 1st Round of the AE'13 whereas Saina would be a better known and more analyzed player for the Chinese.

We have to praise Kashyap for his better performance in this championships and today he should have won the match in straight games. But lost it due to lack of concentration. May be his compatriot's loss in side court affected his play???

Trust me, you're not the only one who knew. It's been used as an excuse here plenty of times. :)

Bae played much better than Saina and deserved her win.
Hopefully, she could create another upset in the semi-final and that would be good for badminton. With Saina's and KP's exit, India now have to depend on P. V Sindhu to deliver later this evening.

Finally, DuPY with his superior stamina and attrition-style wears down Kashyap. Feel sorry for Kashyap who should have wrap it up in two.

The 4th grueling three-setters for DuPY in a row, no way he can surprise Lee CW tomorrow, might even be a lop-sided win for the latter.

Yay for Bae and Du! Bae has always had the potential to go further in her career but has so far been stymied for who knows whatever reason. What a breakthrough for her! And Du, bless his heart, has tremendous fighting spirit even though he lacks the special shots. I'd love it if he made it to the final and there'd be no Lin or Lee in sight; time for some new faces to take the spotlights, please.

Saina, to me, further reinforces her mediocrity.

While I also admire his fighting spirit - please no. Du's matches are so incredibly dull - there's no magic! :D You know what's gonna happen all the time, he's just gonna bring back anything and whenever he has to attack do so with predictable smashes. His game really has no variety or finesse.
I'm not saying he's a bad player or doesn't deserve some titles, but that his game is really not an attractive one to watch.
But without some changes, he's not gonna be a very successful player by Chinese standards, even he cannot win major titles if he has to wear down every single opponent in 3 games! Let's see if the Chinese coaches can do the same for him as the Malaysian ones did for LCW...

However much I respect and admire DuPY's dedication and unyielding spirit, I tend to agree more with j4ckie's opinion than mrinalini's. He must beat more than once against the likes of Lee CW or Chen Long to win the titles he deserves. Hope CBA can work on it for him, it's very taxing having to wear down reasonably strong opponents in grueling matches time after time.

I mean, by the time he reaches the final, his fitness would be stretched quite a bit already. Even though I never accept lack of fitness as an acceptable excuse for top players who are supposed to be supreme athletes - his case is unusual, four successive rounds of tight three-setters, how much can he recover fitness-wise for the final, I wonder?

Commentators keep suggesting and hinting that CL and LD's match was fixed.. Funny.. They said they CL was not quick to move and did not inject pace most of the time like he used to like last night. But the fact that he's up against LD, thats a huge mental barrier and that he has to pace himself as to prepare to last as long as possible in that match because he knew what LD is capable of. Maybe thats the reasonhe didnt do all that was expected by the commentators...
Or maybe it was indeed fixed? why? i dont know. maybe CL was not ready for such a big competition finals yet? as we all see how he perform in his 1st world championship and his 1st olympic..
    what you think?

LCW has got to win this if he faces LD in the finals.. If not, everyone will remember the day when world number 1 lost to a world number 286 in the finals of world championship 2013!! lol...:D

If it's fixed, then I think CBA may be making a mistake fielding an 80%-Lin Dan instead of a 100%-Chen Long against a 100%-LCW.

Jan starting like he did against Boosak yesterday, knocking them out the back and the sides.
