I confused that Banga Beats resting Tai Tzu Ying after her first win against Tine Baun in 2 sets.

Tai Tzu Ying is a much better player than both Marin and Jindapon.

Indians have fared well against Asian players while badly against Europeans... Cant say if its an indicator though but surely Carolina Marin, Ivanov and Zweibler are gonna take lot more confidence with them.

Even i was wondering that. May be Banga Beats' owner is more inclined to Spain because of his girl friend(spanish i think) ;) .

The reason was they have a limited amount of foreigners allowed to play in each tie. It is 3. So most games they want mogensen, hun yu to play and because Carolina is good at mixed and can play singles they play her.

Jan o Jorgensen was supposed to play in the tie yesterday instead of injured hun yu but KDS protested and Banga did not play him

Yes, Jorgensen was scheduled to play the 2nd singles for Banga Beats.
But his team management screwed up and failed to inform the Delhi Smashers about the change in the team.
Apparently, the Delhi Smashers found out only when Banga Beats submitted their line-up for the day just an hour before the match.
And of course, that led to protests from the Delhi Smashers as they hadn't factored in Jorgensen as a possible singles player for this tie.

The 34-year-old Arvind Bhat was brought in because he has played against both HS Prannoy and Sai Praneeth. Unfortunately, although he held his nerve better than Prannoy did, Bhat lost to Prannoy's faster game.

The coaches felt that Tai Tzu Ying had two issues:
    1. she would crumble under match-pressure if Carolina Marin were to take an early lead with her power game
    2. she wouldn't do well if the game went into long rallies as Marin's stamina is far far better than Tau Ying's

Of course, we will never know if any of that was true.

But what we do know is that the coaches' trust in Jindapon paid off.
She never looked under pressure... and, although bone-weary by the end of the game, she did last long enough to beat Marin.

    BWF World Ranking:
    8 TPETAI Tzu Ying 60949.3326

    16 JINDAPON 47497.0000

    19 ESPCarolina MARIN 42875.9183

why people constantly think Jindapon's win against Marin as an upset. In fact Jindapon has a 2:0 head to head win.

why people believe Tai will crumble and don't think her doing well under pressure. Then how come she got better ranking, and even better performed at this IBL.

BTW, how the IBL points calculated? Why Mummai masters got the highest points ?

You get one point for every match you win within the tie and if you overall win the tie you get a bonus point.

    Example mumbai v banga

    mumbai win 3 - 2

mumbai get the 3 points plus a bonus 1 for winning the tie so mumbai get 4 points form the tie and banga would walk away with 2 points from the tie.

I thought the same, but BB only played 2 foreigners yeterday.. .Carolina and Mo so they could have played one more foreigner and TTY makes a valid replacement as she was a sure point there...

We can't do anything. This should be decided by their respective team coaches and owners. My personal opinion is that they should have given one more chance to TTY instead of giving Carolina all the time.. Give a chance to that young girl too.

Sometimes I wonder why the matches need to start at 8pm on weekends? Wouldn't a 2pm slot be able to bring in more spectators on weekend, and also allows time to travel home (safer)? On weekdays, 6 pm or 7pm start time would be good.
Anyone knows the reason for 8 pm start time?

In India, you can't find people coming for some sport other than cricket during day time. Though IBL has broadcasting the league live all over the world in the same time, We all were surprised with the huge crowd in the arena to watch IBL even during midnight. This will definitely increase next year, i am sure about it..

What if two teams with same points? Assume the team with more wins ranked better.

Then, Logically speaking, Awadhe will beat Pune 3:2 today, then both team have 16 points to secure their final 4 position.

Tomorrow, Banga will cruise over Hyderabad 5:0, so that both team advance too.

    Pune Pistons ............... 16 3:2
    Awadhe Warriors .......... 16 3:2
    Hyderabad Hotshots ..... 15 3:2
    Banga Beats ................ 15 2:3

    Mumbai Masters ............15 2:3
    Krrish Delhi Smashers .....13 2:3

Mumbai and Delhi will be eliminated. BB advances with more winning games.
