Tomorrow will be Xue Song's first real test against K Sakai who is seeded 15 and has some regular international experience. Qiao Bin will face the relatively strong 8th seed Hsu Jen Hao, not to be trifled with. As for Tian Houwei, I'm not too confident of his chances against Abdul Latif.

. Badminton is not a popular sport in Australia, that's why. Our better athletes often go for sports where the money is better. In Tennis, Cricket, Football, etc, etc, ......, it's where good players can earn US$millions a year. In Badminton, rewards are only in US$hundreds or very low US$thousands a year. Sadly not a first. If no Aussies win against overseas opponents this will make at least 2 years in a row. I would need to check to confirm if its in fact 3 years dating back to when the tournament was only a grand prix status. Big changes required to player pathways in Aust. There is some talent but there are very strange decisions made at the top of the sport in regards to nurturing it.
The coaching in Aus is also not up to standard hence why players go overseas to like Malaysia etc to get proper training so they become mildly successful. The work ethic of AUS players cannot compared to the more professional and focused ethics of other countries like e.g. Japan.
The new Thai players are generally not to be under-estimated anymore. I think Jindapon will go far in this tournament, more than Sapsiree. Likewise for the JAP players; I'm watching how Sayaka Takahashi will fare here. Lindaweni of course is one of the faves but she is up against Yui Hashimoto afterwards, a tricky proposition. Pai Hsiao Ma can do well too. Xue Song did well to overcome Sakai in two sets and finds himself facing Taufik tomorrow,well. As expected, Qiao Bin had a close two-set win against Hsu Jen Hao. Guo Kai whom I don't fancy actually beat Park Sung Min by taking the next 9 pts from 12-19 down to take the match, incredible, but tomorrow he's up against Viet Warrior NTM, the second-worst opponent to have in this event. Tian Houwei knocking out Abdul Latif is a surprise for me;anyway, I'm quite sure Simon will stop him tomorrow. Deng Xuan seemed to have a hard time beating Lydia. For me, Sonia Chia is MAS best hope in WS. CHN WD Chen Qingchen/Huang Dongping beating the KOR Jang Ye Na/ Kim So Young, the 5th seed, is a big surprise to me.
YES you can buy at the venue there is tixtek booth just infront of main entrance hall 3. and as of yesterday, there are still tickets for final, i dont think they will be sold out. quite expensive and this is sydney not asian city where not so many people want to watch badminton.
