Tonight at 7.00pm the whole nation will be glued to their tvs, monitors, phones, tablets and maybe RADIO too.
does radio broadcast still exist in this day and age? i remember the old days when ppl will follow matches on a little handheld radio.
people listen to radios in cars.. in fact listening the radio is more popular than ever in history ( i read some statistics somewhere.. dont ask me to look for it).. and its during rush hour..
It s doubtful that BWF s action is to prevent another CHN vs CHN final. If this were World Championship, I m pretty sure BWF will do nothing except say we will review for next year. But because this is Olympics, IOC calls the shots. BWF knows if they don t DQ, IOC will have a very good excuse to remove Badminton from even 2016. That s why IOC officials did the talking and BWF went into hiding after the DQ.
Oh yes, we used to listen to the radio. I remember during Thomas Cup final between CHN and INA in early 80s in the wee hours. We were lying on the bed with the radio beside the pillow. The commentator kept changing the line calls between inside and outside.
At least we don't get to see 'oscar drama' in MS today... What's your take today? Who will advance to the final?? Will it be the man from MALAYSIAAAAAAAA?? LEEEE CHOOOONNNNGGG WEEEEII.! or CHEEEEENNNN LOOOOOONG from Chiinnaa? Or the defending and olympic champion, also from china, LIIIINNNNN DAAAANNN?? or the underdogs from KOREA, LEEEEE HYYUUUUNNNN ILLLLLLL? Surely exciting matches awaits us tonight
Interesting match in MS. In 2008, during semi-final, LCW vs Lee Hyun Ill but now it is the reverse where Lin Dan vs Lee Hyun Ill and Lcw vs China-chen long. All the best LCW~~^_^
Mens Singles Semis: the verdict Of the 4 semi-finalists that play on Friday, 3 have had relatively easy, straight-games wins in both elimination rounds so far, and are sure to be fresh. The fourth player went to the decider in the quarter-final round. Lin Dan. But as we have come to know, that has been LD's way of doing things for some time now. I guess he does this just to check up on his own battery and oil and stuff. It is very likely that LCW will have to play 3 games against Chen Long before he enters the finals - if he gets past CL, that is... It is less likely that LHI will get past LD. Not to take anything away from the wily Korean, but it does appear that LD has his number. But you never know what might happen, on the day. So here's my verdict for the semis: I don't know!
Womens Singles Semis: the verdict All the seedings have been justified so far. Wang Yihan has been cruisin'. Saina's been cruisin'. Li Xuerui has been ditto. Wang Xin has been... er... disturbed? Wang Yihan should by rights get past Saina, but the Indian girl appears to have found a new and more potent game recently. Still, Yihan's reach and power may tilt the balance. I'm plumping for Wang Xin to go into the finals, much though I'd love to see LXR fulfill her potential. But then, what do I know?
Lin dan's game has changed, to a degree, as well, did not do him any good against Sho though, lol. On a serious note, LHY is always a very tricky opponent, two very exciting games indeed.
XD Finals presents an interesting situation. If Yu Yang has indeed retired, that creates a bit of a vacancy right at the top of the WD totem. The only 2 candidates with the qualifications to fill that vacancy are playing the XD finals on Friday. If I read the cards right, will the title be a farewell gift to the one chosen to partner WXL in WD? Or will it in fact be the opposite: allow ZZ to boss the XD game and take the title, and give Ma Jin (the killer net wizard) the opportunity to partner WXL (so potent at the baseline) and make the doubles format once again, her stronghold? Probably the latter... But what do I know!
