    Can't really base % on odds. From this odds it is more likely that Lin Dan doesn't win the gold medal than he does which isn't realistic. This is because those who are supposed to be 0% actually has a chance based on the odds here.

    The odds given shall be the contract-payments at the time when bets are placed

    .
    Perhaps it is how bookies are tempting people to place their bets. ;););)

    From what I know, the odds given shall be the contract-payments at the time when bets are placed.

    If more and more punters place their bets on Lin Dan, Lin Dan's odds will change (become smaller), and new odds will be issued.

    Just imagine that if out of 100 punters, 99 punters have placed their bets on Lin Dan; then Lin Dan's odds could become;

    99% for Lin Dan - contract-payment shall be 1.01. :D:D:D

    The chances mentioned are based on the odds given

    .
    The chances mentioned are based on the odds given.

    They will change/vary after more bets are placed on certain players.

    BWF's warning on betting

    .
    Players, coaches and court officials are not permitted to be involved in the betting anyway. Perhaps, not even giving information, influencing us on how to bet.

    Read Post #19.

    There's no "0%" for any player who compete at an events. Even if Roger Federrer is listed and compete in Badminton Men Singles he will be get some odds no matter how small it is :D

    Bookies can actually state that no odds/bets shall be placed on a particular player

    .
    In the betting world, bookies can actually state that no more odds/bets shall be placed/given on a particular player.

    It means that the bookies have closed off any further bets on this player.

    Why? Because the bookies are not sure of how to arrange how much the contract-payments for this player. But this doesn't happen often - Because the bookies are gamblers themselves. :D:D:D

    I seldom bet on Badminton matches

    .
    I seldom bet on Badminton. There is too much match-fixing (especially from CHN players).

    However, in other sports, like Tennis, Soccer, etc... , I place a dollar or 2 in bets, just because I am following their matches.

    For Badminton, I play our BC PAW Games (no money involved).

    Yes, as I pointed out in Post #25;

    If out of 100 punters who have placed their bets, 99 punters bet on Lin Dan, then Lin Dan's odds could become 1.01.

    With 1% return, even if the bookies allow Lin Dan's odds to stand (at 1.01), we won't expect any more punters wanting to place bets on him.

    Very different from others, but my prediction is Simon Santoso will win Gold, Chen Long - Silver, and Chong Wei - Broze. :D Lin Dan will crash out in quarter finals, and so will Chen Jin. Men's Singles is not an event that has ever seen a repeat in medal holders. It's usually FAR from being predictable. And please remember that the players are playing for the ultimate glory. I think Lin Dan will screw up under tremendous pressure as world no. 1.

    Agree..Sorry Lin Dan. but i think he is too slow and his refusal to smash like a crazy person and also his high volume of unforced errors will lead to his defeat.

    If Simon Santoso doesn't win, I will say It's Kenichi Tago or Shon Wan Ho.

    Kenichi Tago ftw. He is faster and boy his sharp smashes are so variant.

    Oh man, how I wish I can make a big bet with both of you, I take LD anytime to take 2012OLY gold with you both picking anyone, (okay, okay, I allow you both to pick 2 players from the rest of the list of qualifiers provided 1 of the 2 players is not LCW;)) while I take only LD...with the stock market scary these days and me withdrawing from speculative stocks and cashing out (my heart cannot take those stress anymore), this would be a great bet (I can smell money:D) and great odds of winning...only if we can meet face to face and I can quarantee of collecting my loot....sigh!:rolleyes:

    You place BIG bets? :p:p:p

    I can only afford a dollar or 2. :eek::eek::eek:

    I won't even bet if I weren't going to follow the Olympics.

    I think if winning a bet can cause happiness, then losing a bet can cause depression.
