Link for the CHN/KOR debacle of a "match": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmmD6VcsAoo&feature=player_embedded#t=3549s
Why should the Koreans or Indonesians be punished? China's pair should be punished. Although it must be said that the Korean camp doesn't have any brains. Why not just let their players ay normally and press charges against YY/WXL? This isn't just any normal BWF tournament. They can get the IOC involved... dimwits.
why should only the Chinese be punished when all pairs are doing it? the 2nd match between korea and indonesia got so far that the black card was pulled out. and no chinese were involved in that match.
Enlighten me, what benefit would a "teammate get by letting the other teammate win"(my definition of match fixing) in a "one qualifier" tournament?
If BWF cannot do the right thing, then let BC take over BWF, really. We are a motley crew of badminton lovers who are typically fanatical, stubborn, argumentative and don't see eye to eye with each-other, but we all do value proper sportsmanship .......
I hope Im wrong, but I bet BWF wont do anything on this matter...maybe they'll just hand some fines to the players? BWF still couldnt take a strong action even when the evidence was right there, being displayed on the court....and all they can say they'll look into this matter seriously. Thumbs up for the gutsy umpire to pulled the black card out, must scared the hell of the players I say let him be the next BWF president.
As good as Thorsten Berg was last night, he was nowhere near the great Herbert Scheele. Now that man really had guts - decisive to stop the 1967 Thomas Cup Finals tie between Malaysia and Indonesia due to crowd trouble. That was a very bold and risky move in a cauldron such as the 1960s Istora Senayan. Had the late Mr Scheele been the referee in charge, the Chinese World Champs and the Korea young things would have packed their bags pronto .....
I pity the Koreans and Indonesians who got pulled in to this Dirty Fracas out of sheer desperation.... They were used to seeing Chinese getting away with their Dirty Tactics time and again and the Federation does nothing... Although they all need to punished but still I have some sympathy towards them... And I am glad they all got involved (unfortunately) in this which resulted in a world wide uproar and got the attention of world. This will definitely jolt BWF and they have no way out but to act tough on the Chinese now at the expense of Koreans and Indonesians..... There is a saying "In order to get something, you need to loose something"..
the first is the deputy referee, Dennis Li of Hong Kong. who threatened the player with the black card first. afterwards, Torsten Berg, referee and BWF Vice President - Europe, actually gave them the black card. but later pulled back after coaches pleaded to give them one more chance. here is the black card: photos courtesy of Edwin Leung.
Read more news into this, and most stated the involved pairs were 'charged'. Reportedly CHN Olympic federation would also look into this matter. Seriously, is any action going to be taken? Based on this schedule http://www.london2012.com/badminton/schedule-and-results/day=1-august/all-day.html, nothing changes and the all the involved pairs will play as usual.
whatever committee that Paisan was meeting with, was doing it in the middle of the night as the event ended in the evening. i would expect any detail results announcement to be made early in the morning. i hope they will do something more than a reprimand.
