Ok, this explains why Pia had FlyPower sponsorship at Copenhagen Masters, seems silly though to split up the pair this close to the Olympics though, even if there is complaints. Thanks for the info
I confess I was thrilled with Ashton's performance. This is some compensation for the lack lustre Derek. But whether Ashton can get past R1 tomorrow will be a real test of his potential.
Hafiz was AE champ in 2003. After this surprise win, for which he was most handsomely rewarded, what significant achievements followed? So much so that he earned the title of Mr Yoyo by disillusioned fans. Yet BAM was generous enough to retain him for long periods at tax payers' expense, I might add. Yes he is still higher ranked than the backup players who now form the bulk of MAS' national team. But I'm not so sure whether he can defeat all of them in competition. Hafiz was much younger than Wong Choong Hann but played second fiddle to him most of the time when they were teammates. And 'uncle' WCH officially retired when he was past 30.
Muhammad Hafiz Hashim is now an independent play . Yes, because HH was criticised by so many BCers and by people in BAM; He has decided to go independent. Now, people cannot say that HH is wasting Malaysian tax-payers' monies. .
If there were no LCW, HH could be MAS's 1st MS player. And now with LCW retiring next year, this may be a possibility.
I don't think LCW will retire completely from playing badminton by next year though Mas still needs him if u see the situation now..
And then ... poor MAS will become no more a badminton powerhouse ... unless a new talented player like LCW, not HH, emerged from the scene to surprise us ... and reinstate MAS on the world badminton map again.
