It's possible with Chinese players. They sometimes retire quite early.

I hope they don't take those trophies home. Where would it fit in the trophy cupboard?

It is not a matter of them retiring early. They can still play on like LL, JYJ and ZL. But CHN has a big pool of WS players to choose from and WS is ultra competitive in CHN, that is why 3 consecutive WS world champion cannot defend their crown. To represent CHN team in Sudirman (1 spot open), OLY (3 spots open), WC (4 spots open), UC (3 spots open) and CHN has probably 6-8 WS players that are equally good and some will be left on the side lines. And scary thing is more coming up and a lot more we don't even know about. In CHN, it is like you are as good as the last championship you won. The next time you lose, you are done. And that is only badminton, try table tennis WS, the competition in CHN is insane.

In 15 years time, RI and TTY are like old model cars, worn out and lonely facing the CHN wall, while CHN has replenished her car models...err...I mean come up with a new CHN wall, younger, faster, fresh and lots of mileage in their young legs:D;)

Looks like when the payout for winning is small, it is compensated by having humongous trophies to balance out.:D

i have confirmed with the Victor USA team that the Korean team do give them their rackets to be strung. some have given them to the US Open official stringer (AK/KY/Panda) but most of them goes to Victor USA. they setup their own machine in the hotel to do the stringing as understandably there are no space for them to setup anything in the arena.

I guess if you hardly ever go to Victor sponsored tournaments you pay quite a lot on stringing fees every time so why not have the local distro do it
