    Songphon Anugritayawon and Kunchala Voravichitchaikul [3] lost the first game to Gert Kunka and Amanda Hogstrom, 20-22. More bad luck for Thailand?

    Anugritayawon/Voravichitchaikul [3] clearly avoided the upset by defeating Kunka/Hogstrom 20-22, 21-11, 21-14.

    Let's see if Yoo Yeon Seong and Kim Min Jung [5] can do the same after losing the first game 19-21 against Shintaro Ikeda and Reiko Shiota. The Japanese are always dangerous!

    Shoji Sato and Shizuka Matsuo just beat Vitalij Durkin and Nina Vislova 21-09, 22-20. That's 4/4 Japanese pairs in XD going to the Second Round.

    Is he/was he a BAM back-up player or an independent?

    Yeah, it's quite an upset.

    Gu Juan beat BYJ(2) 16-21, 21-12, 21-17
    Fu Mingtian beat ED(4) 20-22, 21-18, 21-6
    Chen Jiayuan beat PB 10-21, 21-18, 21-17

    The wins are not easy as all the matches are 3-game efforts.

    In Round 2 (last 16) of the Womens Singles, there are ;

    * 3 Singaporeans (Fu Mingtian, Chen Jiayuan, Gu Juan)
    * 3 Japanese (Kaori Imabeppu, Ai Goto, Ayane Kurihara)

    The others are;

    * 2 each from Germany, Korea and Russia
    * 1 each from China, Denmark, Malaysia and Thailand
    .

    My guess is Thailand's Inthanon Ratchanok will be the one to create more upsets
