. It looks like only a few BCers are following the 2011 Dutch Open GP. Today, Thursday 13-Oct-2011, we will be finding who could arrive at the next stage, at the Quarter-Finals. For the Schedule of Matches, here is the link; http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/matches.aspx?id=60389B26-7D2A-4EFC-831F-5D94C1BB1911 For the Time in the Netherlands; http://www.worldtimeserver.com/current_time_in_NL.aspx Good Luck to all participants, .
Yup, Dutch Open is less interesting tourney for most of BCers, they're looking for the big one next week Indian MS players dominate today's R/16, secured 6 of 16 spots lead by second seed Ajay Jayaram.
(the mods should merge these daily threads ) What a shamelessly google translated english version of the tournament homepage! ... although even google tr. shouldn't do such a poor job. Let's test it ... and apparently it does . Exact same poor translation ... In any case Anup Sridhar had to concede his first round match yesterday after pulling something in his shoulder during his warmup earlier and the pain spreading to his back. One serve into the net and a handshake to give the win to Dumartheray of Switzerland: http://www.toernooi.nl/sport/player.aspx?id=60389B26-7D2A-4EFC-831F-5D94C1BB1911&player=180
Quite a lot of seeds to fall as well yesterday: #4, 6 & 8 in MS, #3 & 8 in WS and #4 in XD. MD and WD only starting today ... Perhaps the biggest upset being Palyama [6] loosing to Ukranian Valeriy Atraschenkov 21-19 in the decider. I could've sworn it was Palyama's name in bold right after the match (meaning he won) only to read later on he actually lost!? With Boonsak out of the picture the path to the SF was wide open although it would still be quite a task to beat Indian youngster Prannoy in the QF if even getting past another Indian Praneeth in R3. Interesting as well Carl Baxter beating 8th seed Zavadsky of Ukraine (not unimaginable) but then also beating Andre Tedjono in straight sets (10 & 17)! So for Day 2 two interesting MS matches for me would be Danish youngster Rasmus Fladberg taking on Indian youngster Prannoy and German Marcel Reuter taking on home favorite Eric Pang, only the latter making it to the streaming court .
Wow! First Thai doubles pair to fall already, none other than Songphon and Sudket. Granted they faced some pretty decent opposition in Danes Skovgaard and Kolding, Danes taking it:

21-17 12-21 21-10

Yet another withdrawal robbing the "crowd" of one of two somewhat interesting WS matches on schedule today: Cicognini of Switzerland getting a free pass with the withdrawal of Olga Konon, seeded 5th. In the other match India's Sindhu beat another local favorite Meulendijks

12-21 21-13 21-10

Ajay will be up against local favourite Eric Pang in the Quarter-finals. They have met once before, at the AE 2011 qualifications; Ajay won then in straight games.
