2009 Singapore Open - 11 June - Day 3 (BIGGER upsets were found in the Mens Singles) . WOW ... What a surprise !!! There were some BIG upsets in the Womens Singles (in Day 2) yesterday, but in Day 3 today, it's in the Mens Singles where BIGGER upsets were found. This is good for our World Badminton Tournaments. Let's get our higher ranked players to work harder, and not to be too complacent in their current World Rankings. .

juz came back from today's matches...LCW's performace was never enough to beat NTM...LCW was juz hanging in thru out the game...expected him to up the pace in the second set to throw NTM off his feet but that never happened....not the first time playing with NTM, shud hav known better...great match by NTM...Anup Sridhar beat PG convincingly, beat PG at the net and at his game...Clark/Robertson demolished KKK/TBH...the BAM team was really dissapointing...even KLRC's MD pair Gan/Tan managed to do better than their compatriots....Xie Xingfang was rubbish against Ai Goto who would never ever be able to beat XXF, but Goto put up an epic fight. Imogen Bankier was red carded at the end of a WD match against a Japanese pair...Bankier was trying to show the service judge her take on a fault call when she accidentally hit a shuttle at one of the japanese lady...umpire was tallying the score and wasnt even lookin at her and gave her a red card due to the crowd reacting to the accidental hit...Donna Kellogg shud hav received the red when she swung her racket at the service judge after a fault called against her...wad a day......
Can the upsets continue??.. ..another day, another set of upsets for the seeded favorites.. ..thanks for that brief recap, dienbienphu!
Scores can be misleading. In G1, I believe LCW underestimated NTM when he had a healthy lead. Then NTM piled on the pressure. Also LCW missed a lot of his smashes, finding the net instead so he became wary of more such mistakes. NTM must have done intensive homework on LCW to win the match of his life. It's the same with PG's loss to AS. AS's coach knows PG's game very well and AS was able to execute his plan. AS had more trouble playing CHN's QYB who's better than him in every department except netplay. AS wins on confidence. He gets better with each win but I don't think he will get past BP. Boonsak's too crafty for him.
LCW playing so much is bound to lose and NTM is not an easy walkover, can be a giant killer when he is determined and in form, and the score is close. As for your Spore girls, they really put on a show, is it walking tall playing at home or taking a page from your ping pong girls?
