So many identical scores. Lin Dan won 21-17, 21-17. Congratulations, LD.

    My opinion

Congratulation to Lin Dan winning another title as expected. However, I do agree with the Chinese commentator that it will be harder and harder for Lin Dan to be as dominating as he once was for the upcoming years.
Boonsak certainly did his home work well directing most of the traffic to Lin Dan forehand and showed us you can challenge Lin Dan in different way without heavily relying on the speed and power like Chong Wei did. Park Sung Hwan also showed us different aspect of playing against Lin Dan able to drag into rubber.
For Team China, there should be concern as Chen Jin is not really as good as one might think and has proven not making smart decision when the game is on the line while playing against Boonsak in semi.
I also agree with the commentator that if Lin Dan is given 100 point then Chong Wei should be about 95 and Boonsak is around 90. For the upcoming tournaments, I expect to see Park Sung Hwan excels so is Tien Minh. Lets see what happen on the coming Japan Open.

dont get me started on the CCTV commentators. throughtout the matches what they ever did was to pick on the mistakes/errors, no matter however minor of the world class players. giving the impression that they could have done better, when they were younger and still playing. who they think they are? useless losers!!!

looking ahead in 3 yrs time at 2012 london. i cant see either LD or LCW will be gold medal contender, well passed their best and too old for the MS title. at the moment only Chen Jin and Chen Long are favorites for the olympics 2012. cant see anyone else from any of the top countries. but then again how long will it take a natural talent to becomes someone good enough for london 2012? 18 to 24 months may be? so, still time for someone to challenge the title in london.

Maybe you are looking too far ahead from where you are sitting, you may need a tall stool so you can stretch your neck to look further:D:p I may concur with you CL/CJ are favorites, esp CL who can only improve from where he is at now. LCW played so much that when London OLY comes calling, he is 30 something and may be irrelevant, but then he may be loaded up and ready for retirement;) If LD still remains the top gun in CHN, he can be the favorite and that depends on how motivated he is to be a 2x gold medal winner, which for sure will be history making. OLY12 gold winner may very well comes from CHN. How about INA Dionysisus, cos someone has to represent INA when in OLY12, SDK and TH are irrelevant by then too. The big question would be how INA developes this player that in 2012 he would have the right tools and experience to take on the world's best.

There is <3yrs away from OLY12....the current MAS juniors have no chance and there is insufficient time to develop the next batch of MAS juniors to contest for OLY12 honors...as for KOR, PSH is approaching senior citizen status in baddy, DEN none...that remains INA maybe there is hope...as for CHN, it is a dogfight in MS and catfight in WS, just watch each time a CHN WS lost to her compatriot, they just touch hands, cold and smile-less, ready to pock her opponent eyes, unlike TH and LCW hugging and slapping each other backside with their rackets (I wonder what that means, over to you Hauge to explain) :D:p

Of course badminton had doping tests regularly at all the events played. As far as I know, only few players used doping and got punished by BWF.

Though its true, it will be harder for LD to be as dominating in years to come specially for gold medal in 2012 because of age, but the comentator and all people forgetting that not only LD is getting older but all of his main rivals too.

From LCW, BP, Sonny DK, PSH , BCL, Taufik will in his 30s and Peter Gade probably retired. They all will also be a bit slow too.

The only youngsters who had all what it takes to beat and win all of them are only CJ and CL so far.
