My understanding is that the organisers will decide the schedule and the opposing teams will not know about the opposite field until the match itself. So TH could potentially go on court and think to himself: "Is it me or does this guy look nothing like Lin Dan?"

    Hmm...the lineup is out:
    INA vs CHINA
XD: Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa vs Zheng Bo/Gao Ling -- expected...tough to predict, but Zheng/Gao hold the edge.

MD: Candra Wijaya/Markis Kido vs Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun -- surprise, surprise, the MD is next. I hope the INA pair can win....because of the surprise element.

WS: Adriyanti Firdasari vs Zhang Ning -- a no brainer....unless there's a major miracle.

WD: Greysia Polii/Vita Marissa vs Yang Wei/Zhao Tingting -- the key match if scores are 2-1 to China. Team China can basically win the Cup.

MS: Taufik Hidayat vs Lin Dan -- might not be played after all...but...if scores are split 2-2 at this stage, this will be the mother of all matches...and Taufik has the slight slight edge at the moment due to his good form in the Sudirman Cup.

Verdict: CHINA to win 3-1 or INA to win 3-2.

    Hallo, I am new here.

It was a great semifinal match between Indonesia and England. England has done their best to fight against Indonesia and they could even win it actually. But, Indonesia has proved that they are good in a team tournament.

Indonesia has reached their minimum target to enter the final, like they did two years ago in Beijing. They final the fancy team, China again.

Everyone knows how superior China is nowadays. I fully agree with this. China will definitely retain the Sudirman Cup. However, I do hope that Indonesia will fight and show the best performance as they can, so the match will be interesting to see.

China will get 2 points from WS and WD (This is almost sure). China only needs 1 more point from the rest (MS, MD or XD). I hope Indonesia can steal at least 1 point.

I am not pessimistic, but this is realistic, I guess.
If Indonesia wins, it will be a great achievement and probably a history.

So, for China and Indonesia, please give us entertaining matches to see.

    F.limpele/Marissa for XD 40-60
    Kido/Chandra.W for MD 55-45
    T.H for MS 60-40
    G.poly/Marissa WD 45-55
Firdasari WS 10-90(ZN is the killer!)

China will probably win,but not easily..

I really hope that indo can take back their trophy n break china's domination..brings more colour to badminton world!

Oh well, I hate to be pessimistic, but if the above is indeed the schedule, the MS match will not happen at all to the relief of both players. Like it or not, no matter how casual TH is, he will be nervous in having to face LD and no matter how confident LD is, he will feel the pressure so great in facing such a talented player he might freak out. I have to agree though, if it comes to this match, it will be one hell of a match.

What an interesting play of order for the final:eek::D
    XD - MD - WS - WD - MS

XD : Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa vs Zheng Bo/Gao Ling
A tough match for the Indonesian pair. Indonesia has to win this match in order to keep the team alive. I really hope that Flandy/Vita can handle the pressure and give their best as they can. Zheng/Gao is really a great pair. I saw them playing against Han Sang-hon/Lee Hyo-jung in semifinal. Not to mention that they are currently number one in the Super series ranking.

MD : Candra Wijaya/Markis Kido vs Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng
I think Cai/Fu is in their form in this Sudirman Cup. They have beaten Koo/Tan in 2 sets in a rather easy match. But, I was completely surprised with the Indonesian scratch pair. Candra/Kido has proven that they are a good combination when playing Blair/Clark. But, tomorrow the opponent is tougher, world champion 2006! So, this will be interesting to see. Again, Candra/Kido has to win in order to keep the chance to win the cup. If they can play like they beated Blair/Clark or even better, there is a bigger chance to win. I hope Candra's experience can help.

WS : Adriyanti Firdasari vs Zhang Ning
Not too much I can say. Zhang Ning is completely much better. I only hope that Firda will give her best and use this as a great experience to face Zhang Ning. I think miracle is unlikely to happen here.

WD : Greysia Polii/Vita Marissa vs Yang Wei/Zhao Tingting
This match basically belongs to China. Last time, they beat Greysia/Vita in Indonesia Super Series in 3 sets. I hope the Indonesian will fight all the way to give the best fight. However, I really like this Indonesian pair, they are more aggresive. Too bad, they will be separated, as Greysia will be back with her previous partner, Jo Novita.

MS : Taufik Hidayat vs Lin Dan
Lin Dan is really a golden boy for Li Yongbo. I was a bit disappointed when I watched Lin Dan played against Shon Seung-mo. He did not show his best form yet. If this match is going to happen tomorrow (score 2-2 between China and Indonesia), Taufik has a great chance to win and help Indonesia bring the cup back after 18 years. I really want to see this match, as a battle between Taufik and Lin Dan is always worth to see. I don't know why MS is the last match.

Talking about LD vs TH, I am very sorry if I am off track. Maybe I should put this on another thread altogether, but according to the BBC website (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/badminton/6760603.stm), LD argued with LYB in the middle of his match. Shocking! Has anyone read any article on other websites about this? What happened? It's a one thing to hear about TH arguing with PBSI, but LD arguing with his coach? This is a scandal. The article even says LD might be replaced. I am very intrigued...

agree ....... CHN is simply too good and powerful in all.
... but hope this time INA can win Sudirman Cup.

quoted from one popular song in Indonesia nowadays :
".....And when you keep on believing
Thousand miles can be seized by running
The Miracles can do things, Though can't do"

How do you get that percentage?

So many people gave their predictions on percentage. But none of the number makes any sense except "staples"s

It doesn't make sense not because of the assumption, but because of the logic.

At last Sudirman cup, China swept Indonesia twice by 8:0. If only this data are used, China should win 100%.

    Anyway, here is mine:

    1) XD: ZB/GL - LF/VM 70:30

    2) MD: CY/FH - KM/CW 70:30

    3) WS ZN - AF 100-0

    4) WD YW/ZT - GP/VM 100-0

    5) MS LD - TH 60-40

    So,
    China - Ina: 3-0 Chance: 49%
    China - Ina: 3-1 Chance: 42%
    China - Ina: 3-2 Chance: 5.4%
    China - Ina: 2-3 Chance: 3.6%

    Total:
    China (win% 96.4% ) - Ina ( 3.6% )

Most likely, China will take it either 3:0 (49% chance) or 3:1 (42%)
    that's it.

    welcome to BC!

and a nice post to begin with also. i agree with you, it is more likely for CHN to win than for INA to win, but i think INA have a fighting chance. the chance unfortunately will have to come from MS / MD / XD only. Taufik has to do his job, so does Candra / Kido (i don't believe they can field anybody else given how well Candra / Kido played today), and Nova/Lilyana.

but unfortunately, the weakest link of the 3 is XD, which will likely come first in the tie. this will be totally crucial as losing the XD for either team will likely lead to losing the Sudirman Cup.

well, in less than 24hrs, we will see who will come out first. may the better team win!

Your percentage does not make sense at all....I agree that Chn will win more likely but your percentage is not logical at all..sorry to say that ..no offence!!

If LD is replaced..then MS will be 90-10 taken by TH.No one in CH MS player is really a match for TH except LD.So,that issue is rather impossible.CH wont take the risk.

Order Event China[CHN] - [INA] Indonesia Score Points Duration Court
1 XD Bo Zheng, Ling Gao [CHN] - [INA] Limpele Flandy Vita Marissa

Why use Limpele and Vita who plays WD also, simply because the 1st XD cannot win. So I will view it as an exit strategy, just finding an excuse to lose. Although Limpele/Vita won Singapore, but lost so many to all kinds of people, they could not win even a 2 star tournaments like big boss.

Look at Zheng Bo/Gao Ling, they are invincible, almost. There is simply no way for them to lose to Limpele and Vita, there is a huge distance in between. 100% ZB/GL will win.

2 MD Yun Cai Haifeng Fu [CHN] - [INA] Kido Markis, Candra Wijaya

the same exit strategy for Indonesia. a scratch pair to fight the best men's double in top form. How desperate it is! 100% Cai/Fu win

3 WS Ning Zhang [CHN] - [INA] Adriyanti Firdasari

Indonesia WS has never won yet! Neither has Adriyanti Firdasari. While Zhang Ning and her company have never lose even a single game. 100%

4 WD Wei Yang, Tinting Zhao [CHN] - [INA] Greysia Polii ,Vita Marissa

No chance for them to play

5 MS Dan Lin [CHN] - [INA] Taufik Hidayat

Just dressed up and participating the closing ceremony.

Just take one more look at China and Indonesia Sudirmap cup teams, China teams are made of all world number 1s, and/or invincibles, while Indonesia teams are either consistent losers or scratch pairs, there is just no comparison.

    3:0 China wins.

I would like compare Lin Dan and Taufik a little bit.

Like most people said, Lin Dan now is in a shocking bad form, while Taufik is in top form. Both of them have played Andrew Smith, so we can compare Lin dan in bad form with Taufik in top form:

Both Lindan and Taufik won 2:0 against Smith, but Lindan lost 30 points while Taufik lost 35 points, which indicates Lindan is still better than Taufik right now.

So to make the match competitive, we have to pray that Lindan in bad form while Taufik in top form. But unfortunately, their teammates will not give those two guys any chance to play.

Best in best now in my view:

    1) Zheng Bo/Gao Ling have won so many titles, they are definitely the best even among all events.

    2) Cai/Fu, these two guys are awesome. They just overtake the control from KKK/TBH

    3) Lee CW, He is the best in men's singles for sure. He should be able to beat any one in the world now, but unfortunately there is no tournaments for him to grab

    4) No candidate yet. Except the above three, I cannot see anyone else is currently hot. KKK/TBH aren't. Xie XF isn't. Zhang Ning isn't. Lin Dan isn't. Taufik isn't, even lost to Bao CL at home. Gao Ling/Huang Sui look like finished. Yao Wei/Zhao Tingting should not be as good as YW/ZJW. Wei Y/ZYW have never been the best...

    Final INA vs CHINA:

XD: Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa vs Zheng Bo/Gao Ling Crucial match for IND but CHN has the edge with Great Gao. 47:53

MD: Candra Wijaya/Markis Kido vs Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun -- I do not agree with most of you that Wijaya can do it again. Cai/Fu is in great form and the confidence is high since they have beaten Wijaya/Gunawan at least twice this year. 45:55

WS: Adriyanti Firdasari vs Zhang Ning -- No miracle. 20-80

WD: Greysia Polii/Vita Marissa vs Yang Wei/Zhao Tingting -- Secured winner for CHN. 30-70

MS: Taufik Hidayat vs Lin Dan -- It really come to this far, I worry about the current form of LD. Slight advantage of Taufik because of his relaxing attitude. 53:47.

Verdict: CHINA to win 3-0 or 3-1 or INA to win 3-2
