Du Jin not teams up with Yu at the team event, here is Du Jin: and here is Yu Yang: therefore lost to Hunan's doubles. Yip Pui Yin won 1 point for Hong Kong, She beat Zhou Hui from ZheJing 2:1 in an hour long match. HuNan's Zhen Bo/Cai Bao beat Lu Jian/Zhang Moran from ShanDong 2:1 Lin Dan beat Huang YQ from Hong Kong 2:0 Du PengYu from Beijing lost to Chen Hong (Fujiang) 1:2 Liu JR from BeiJing lost to Bao CL (Hunan) 0:2 Hong Kong's Wong Wai Hong / Yohan Hadikusumo Wiratama (in picture) lost to PLA's Zhang Zhijie/Xiong Shuai 0:2 Hong Kong's Hu Yun (in the following picture) beat Zhang Qi from PLA 2:0
Singles can cruise in doubles Zhou Hui lost to Yip in an hour long match 1:2; Wang Ling won against Zhou Mi; then with less than 15 minutes resting, two single specialists Wang Ling and Zhou Hui paired together for doubles against Hong Kong number 1, world number 29 Chan Tse Ka/Tse Ying Suet (in the picture). Guess what? World ranked 446th in women's singles player, Zhou Hui, paired with another single player Wang Ling beat world ranked 29th in doubles Chan/Tse in an easy 2:0 win. Can you imagine that a double specialist ranked at 446th beat a single specialist ranked 29th in singles? Even the best double players would be dead meat when playing any single professionals.
Zhou Hui ranked 446th in singles, no doubles ranking points, her partner Wang Ling is also a single players without any doubles ranking points. Those two paired together with little training. And also both after a very tideous and long singles match with little resting, against World 29th best doubles Tse/Chan.....and the scratch pair made by singles won easily in straight sets, even 21:12 in the 2nd game. I read many posts here mentioned that double players are better at smashing. Reality check, when Wang Ling was asked what's the secret they won doubles so easily. Wang Ling said, Tse/Chan were very decent doubles, they played very good. She and Zhou Hui did not have secret or any strategy to play doubles, actually Wang Ling admitted she knew nothing about doubles strategy or skills. The only thing she and Zhou Hui did was smashing. Think about the fact, both Wang Lin and Zhou Hui just had smashed for 1 hours in singles. Even though, their smashes were still too strong for the 29th best world doubles. Are Hong Kong players not good enough? Zhou Hui, with full energy, just lost to Hong Kong 3rd singles Yip. But exhausted Zhou Hui was still too much for the Hong Kong best doubles.

great info from 2cents hmmm, If I'm not mistaken, in Sudirman Cup 2009, Zhou mi and Wang Chen played WD and they won too against double specialist player, CMIIW
exactly, for any decent singles players, they can play doubles at very high level. But we cannot expect double players to play singles. Thanks for verifying that.
Thats true...remember Li Ling wei and Han Ai ping..single players but very solid WD.. Also Lim Swie King plays double also...his result was pretty good.. For double player to play single is tough...the style of attacking is different. In Recent Tokyo Open, Taiwanese WD, Cheng Wen Shing played single against Wang Xin...very awkward play from CWS
