i wear a assortment of nike and adidas socks, mostly nike ones. my favorite pairs are these nike shox which are cushioned on the toes and heel, then i have a pair that are similar that are "quarter" which also have a thicker bottom and a thin mesh-like top. if i am playing for more then 2 hours then i need to wear 2 pairs of socks because of blisters and sweating. so for that i have one pair of special nike socks that are like "anti-blister" and their super super thin polyester type that goes underneath then a cushioned sock over top. very comfortable and i never get blisters, slipping in the shoe and it sucks up all that insane sweat that my feet make :O

I wear Asics Tiger black color, no show (low cut) socks. They are 100% cotton socks. So any 100% cotton socks will do.

    Why so simple?

I need my socks to move as little as possible inside my shoe. I need max friction to avoid the slipping and sliding of my feet inside the shoe.

I used to wear microfiber type, advanced space age socks and I got blisters. Even with two pairs. Why? Because my feet would slip and slide.

I tried just about everything: Thorlo, Sole, Columbia, Wigwam, Smart Wool, DeFeet, DryMax, Lorpen UnderArmour, Nike, Adidas, Asics, Saucony, Brooks, Balega, Feetures, North Face, Ultimax, and my favorite for running, WrightSock Dual layer:
http://www.runningwarehouse.com/descpage-WDLRSL.html, but to no avail, blisters, especially on both big toes where I push off.

I went back to good'ol 100% cotton and TA-DA! no more blisters. :)

As for padding/cushioning/ergonomics, I let the insole take care of that, Super Feet. :D

Also, cotton absorbs sweat the best, there's not enough air flow inside the shoe to dry the socks in the amount of time we play. If my socks become too wet, I just change them. But this is rare. This is also the reason why I wear 100% cotton sweatbands instead of microfiber type.

Of course each person's different and your mileage may vary. I say go with whatever works best for you.

i started wearing these socks recently.

    http://www.kalenji-running.com/EN/run-800-2-pack-28911625/

great cushioning, no blisters, socks dont move in my shoes and they provide extra bounce too lol. i think they're great. u can really tell the difference from standard cotton ankle socks. also they are slightly higher than ankle socks - to provide a little bit of ankle protection.

btw dont get the run 900. they are knee length.

i used to wear adidas socks. it is thin but ok. when i bought my mizuno shoes, there was a sale on socks and it looks good so i bought 2 of them. went back to ipoh, tried it out, love it so much, i went back to kl and bought another 4 pairs. hahahaha. it is thicker than the adidas. but not uniform thickness. it is thicker on some parts than others. got ribs in the middle which i think supports my feet a lot more than the old socks. love em to bits. if ever there's a sale again, i'll surely get more of these. i wanted to try nike ones because i have used nike socks before and they are very very comfortable but they are a bit more expensive. :p

indeed, i have worn it many times before. :D in fact, in some places, the thickness have been reduced a bit due to friction in shoes. :) i rotate four pair of socks. and thankfully i dont sweat that much so it remains relatively clean. and i only wear those for badminton. :p anyway, i'll take it as a compliment, thank you. :):D

the ideal socks i could imagine would be thick comfy socks with air circulation on the soles and the top of the foot. it doesnt matter if it ankle or traditional high.

but i guess ankle socks is the current trend, i personally prefer ankle socks for the looks and theres more air for my legs. plus it shows my cavs.
yeah yonex has a nice pair of socks good for badminton.

does your country sell original badminton equipment & accessories from Japan? It's the best quality and most comfortable i find so far. Nothing come close to it. Socks not only provide protection to your feets from injury & shock absortion, it also reduce friction betw legs & the shoes. Finally, your legs are the one that have the most contact with all types of surfaces, so why stingy on it, you deserve better treatment.

    World without sock = sucks

Well.... for me socks that is 100% cotton and not into ankle socks. Reason is that i always wear my ankle guard for protection. Meaning that ankle is out of my list. Prefer thick comfy~softy feel socks materials also give cushion like action when jumping, absorb the dampering effect.

But same time, i do add shoe sole pad to more comfort to prevent major shock when landing from jumps. Brands? As long it is a familiar brands, i don't mind.
