Well there's no such thing as a Olympic Consolation Prize, but I think it's kind of unfair that all we see are the guys on the podium with the Gold, Silver and Bronze medal around their neck. I think that there's a lot of others that performed so well, but just wasn't lucky enough to get a medal, so I decided to create this thread to give recognition to who YOU think performed extremely well, but came just short of capturing a medal.

For me, I truly think that Lee Hyun Il performed exceptionally well at the OG. Defeating Kenneth in a close 3 set game, beating Boa in 2 set, giving LCW a hard time in the Semi-Finals and making Chen Jin work extra hard to earn the Bronze medal.

It's sad to see that he's walking away empty handed so I give the Olympic Consolation prize to, Lee Hyun Il.

:D I didn't get a chance to watch any of the match live, but I was on my toes and bitting my finger nails as I watch the rewind on NBC. The funny thing is that I already know the end result, but it's like I hoping that NBC made a mistake by putting the wrong score on the wrong side.:D

Yes i think LHI should be given consolation prize. He played so well in this OG. Just too bad tough luck and tough draw that he has to walk away empty handed.

Didn't Maria win a bronze medal? We are talking about those who didn't win a medal but should have deserved one.

My consolation prize goes to those finished 4th in the 5 events.

Badminton, table tennis and tennis should award two bronze medals in each events like those in wrestling, judo, taekwondo etc.

In other words, advancing to SF = bronze medal guarantee?

Why do they provide 2 bronzes in those self-defense sports but not in badminton?

Seriously, Peter Gade. What terrible luck he catches whenever he goes to the Olympics.
