LCW will be back and become stronger just like Lin Dan after the defeat of World Championship 2005 Final. Mark my word!

I had exactly the same feeling when watching the match. I am a little sad for LCW, but LD played great.

    Congratulations to Lin Dan.

What an awesome match. His speed around the court was incredible even managing to kill drop shots at times.

LCW did make some unforced errors but who wouldn't when you are faced with a machine at the other end.

Hard luck to the Indonesian pairs.

The Koreans played extremely well today with the young man at the top of his game most of the time.

Home crowd advantage is a very big factor for LD's superb performance today, 1/2 of his gold medal being earned from his very supportive spectators. LCW didn't get much support.

Well, the 2008 OG Badminton comes to an end. Thanks to NBC/MSN for the live-feed so we can watch the games at 3am (California time). And thanks to kwun for the BC forum and company. And to prove that we are not the only silly one to get up at 3am to watch badminton :D:D

Now, excuse me. I need to get back in bed for a couple hours of ZZZZZ

what concluding remark can i say. i am still trying to look for my jaws on the floor.

a perfect performance that LD reserved for the Olympics final. he unleashed to the world what he is truely capable of, which is an awe inspiration display of speed, power, precision, anticipation, and relentless fighting spirit. no smash opportunity was left on the table, no loose lifts are left unkill, no net shot are hastily place. everything was done to perfection today with 110% focus.

so focus that he was mostly complete devoid of emotion. so focus that all the emotion was bursting out but held in near the end when the gold medal was just hanging off his pocket.

most of the time i see player rushing to their coach just as a rehearsed display of respect, but this time LD rush to LYB and TXH after the last point, really showing his joy, hugging his coaches in appreciation of his thanks to them. that was very touching scene.

LCW didn't play bad but today is not his day to be standing on the other end of teh court with LD. mostly lost throughout the match i am sure he too want to just be at the sideline watching LD's skill display. however, still a big achievement for LCW as he has earned his country a silver medal in badminton, a first since YKH/CSK in 1996.

LCW was just out of it today to say the least. Congrats to Lin Dan for such an amazing game. I think maybe now you can consider Lin Dan one of the best badminton players who ever lived. Not sure if LCW can give OG another shot, but if he decides to then I'm looking forward to it. Nonetheless, LCW is still my hero. AND ONCE AND FOR ALL PEOPLE BADMINTON IS NOT GOING TO BE TAKEN OUT FROM THE 2012 OLYMPIC GAMES. IT WAS A MERE APRIL FOOLS JOKE.

Definitely both, but mainly Lin Dan's pressure. He just never gave Lee Chong Wei a chance... Nearly all of Lee Chong Wei's shots looked desperate. Lin Dan was the opposite. Big big mental advantage to Lin Dan after a little way into the first set, and it only got worse!
