ZHANG Ning was ranked 2nd in the World Ranking as at 1-May-2008

    .
cooler ... I thought the World Ranking as at 1-May-2008 was:
    1. XIE Xingfang
    2. ZHANG Ning
    3. LU Lan
    4. ZHU Lin
And therefore, ZHU Lin was left out.

Talking about LYB's "alleged" match fixing, he might be regretting not to have fixed XIE Xingfang to play YULIANTI Maria Kristin in the Bronze Medal Match, in order to have Team China getting a better chance to win the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in the Womens Singles event.

Posted in another thread, I have said that LYB was worried that if he was to ask XIE Xingfang to play to lose, he might get to upset LIN Dan's concentration in the Mens Singles match. :):):)

Personally, I am against any form of 'match fixing'. All players should be encouraged to play their best in all tournaments.

    Congratulations to ZHANG Ning !!!

    :):):)

Beijing Badminton Qualifications were submitted based on the 1-May-2008 Ranking

    .
cooler ... The link that you have provided gives the ranking as at 14-August-2008.

It was the ranking as at 1-May-2008, when Beijing Qualifications were submitted.

    Not 100% correct.

The OG ranking was done in April, by then, I believe ZN is still higher than ZL. ZN's ranking starts to drop sharply after the OG ranking was completed.

Thats correct....the ranking was based on April 30 where ZN was number 2 and ZL was 4 at that time......now ZN's ranking will rise again from 7th.....could be 3rd or 4th.....

    A true and gracious champion

During the 2005 World Championship in Anaheim, I had the honour to meet and take picture with ZN at the back entrance (that is where we stalk the players) when she was about to enter the statium to play her championship match. She was calm, smiling, gracious and I was too excited to ask for her autograph. She was already world and Olympic champion at that time, too bad she lost that match. I think we will remenber her one of the greatest.
