WS is a tough event. Grueling rallies and still can lose. Thumbs up to all the WS players.

(My view copied from Match thread)

Like permuda says you cannot compare WMC performance just now to anything Choong/Lee or Hafiz have done.

Those have choked, just not bothered or lost the plot. Wong was breaking her neck to stay in some of the rallies. There is no disgrace in the way WMC lost today. Sure she started slow against LL, but Lu has tremendous strokes, which don't need warming up.

Wong Mew Should be lauded for not crumbling, even though it must have broke her heart to lose so many game points, she was literally doing the splits several times in rallies to hang in there

WMC was playing with her heart on her sleeve especially on the second game. It was just not meant to be, unfortunately.

Huh ? Is she a one game person ? Only give 110% in 2nd game and 50% in 1st game. Overall still only 80% ! Finally WMC has a taste of her own medicine ...she used to be lagging nn-20 ......and caught back to beat people. And now on this big stage, someone did that to her ...came back from 15-20 to beat her.

Kudos to Mew Choo, she fighted all the way but lost by a whisker in the second game. The score speaks for itself, the highest score so far in the badminton event for Beijing Olympics.

What are you talking? I don't understand you.

What 110% in 2nd game and 50%1st in game?

Do you know what are you talking about?

So you are very happy WMC lost?

All I have said is WMC fought hard and played well Although she lost to a better player that day. Both of them deserved praise.

What are you trying to say? Say some sensible thing here will you?

I assumed you are noobs :)

    nobody gives 50% in Olympics!

Beside determination, there are also things called

    Skills...
    Stragtegy...
    Luck...
    etc that determine the outcome.

I hope this give you a glimpse of what is badminton all about!

    Example:

I can give 120% but I'll still lose 21-0, 21-0 to Lu Lan

Think she need to work harder on the "killer shot" department. She does not seem to have any real great weapon against her opponents except to run them out of breath. This is by the way, the hallmark of Misbun's training- to him, fitness is the no.1 requirement. However I feel that WMC needs something more.

WMC fought tooth and nail for the final few points, and the match could have gone either way, but LL was too consistent in the end. Ugh. I felt SO sorry for her when she lost the second set. You could tell that she really wanted to win, which makes the loss even more devastating. :(

Never mind WMC, you really did your best. There's nothing to be ashamed about that. Just bounce back and return as a stronger player. :)
