nope...in this TC...lin dan was lcw opponent...in OG...lin dan is the whole world opponent...included himself...lcw should and must beat him in TC...but for OG...they will meat if and only if they reach final...so...lin dan are everybody target...so as lcw...but...lin dan is in china...the pressure should be higher than TC...because on paper...lin dan lose mean the end of china tc team as their double will lost...so...there is pressure...but the pressure in OG was comfirm higher...i dont think lcw will be the one will have a chance to beating lin dan(because i dont think they will meet, lin dan will bow out earlier...)

"Besides, afterall that negativity, tell me how does LCW perform in TC? Simple, he beat someone that the doubter in this thread said he wouldn't stand a chance, by straight set!"

Not taking anything away from LCW, the lad played brilliantly against LD yesterday. And I hope the win will spur LCW to win that OG in Beijing. However, we have to acknowledge that LD is still the top dog in MS. And to put things in perspectives, when LCW beat LD yesterday, LCW earned Msia 1 point. When LD last beat LCW in the SO final this year with a score of 21-13, 21-18, LD won the SO title.

No, you're missing the point. When his country needed him to be at his best, LCW came out firing and took the fight to the top player in the world. That's how you take the lead for your team like a man whereas Lin Dan was left to depend on his teammates to bail him out.

Agree, no doubt LCW delivered for Msia yesterday.
But what I meant was on the head to head with LD, LCW still got some catching up to do.

Lin Dan losing was not a big deal to the CHN team ... it would have been nice if he won over LCW for sure. Tremendous, in fact. But with

    MS2 - Bao Chun Lai
    MD1 and MD2

all fully capable of sustaining Lin Dan losing, CHN has a comfortable security blanket even if Lin Dan lost.

    Thank god LCW won.

Lin Dan, it's been noted, performs poorly in team events (Thomas Cup), and inexplicably in Olympic Games, as the atmosphere of the OG is a little different for other badminton series. CHN has athletes in the swimming pool, gymnastics, all bringing back gold, silver, bronze, and so Lin Dan has to be aware of the team-like nature of the Olympics.

LCW winning MS1 is like a car with a great engine, but the transmission (gear box), tires and wheels all failing to move the whole car (MAS) forward to the finish line.

same thot, dave. LYB rather see young CJ and runner-up specialist bcl get the much needed pressure experience in preparation for the OG. To china/LYB, it doesn't matter what color is the cat, as long as one of them catch the gold. All 3, cj, bcl and ld, have equal ability to win the MS gold.

I know that LD hasn't performed well before in team events but still I would consider him as the favorite for OG -- correlation does not imply causation. For China, CJ is the next best bet even though BCL is ranked higher. BCL = runner-up always -- very talented but no killer instinct. I think his job is to clear the path for his fellow teammates.
