The Japanese XD pair survived a gruelling first match today. Tadashi Ohtsuka/Satoko Suetsuna beat Hwang Ji Man/Lee Kyung Won in rubber-set, despite losing the first set: 15-21, 21-17, 21-18 in a match that lasted nearly an hr. They will qualify if they can beat two MAS junior pairs later on.

The prize is a manageable tie against Howard Bach/Eva Lee in R32 tomorrow.

Pia Bernadet Zebadiah has progressed to the second qualifying round after a tiring rubber-set victory against Sutheaswari Mundukasan 22-20, 24-26, 21-16. She will face another tricky match against Kamilla Augustyn, scheduled at 3:30pm.

Meanwhile, Kuan Beng Hong just takes the first set 21-16, despite once trailing Tommy Sugiarto 5-12  I think quite a number of INA players will go home tomorrow.

Other INA players to be playing today:
    WS Q2
Adriyanti Firdasari vs Jang Soo Young -- tough match for Firda, but, she's fresher than Jang. So, she stands a chance.

Pia Bernadet Zebadiah vs Kamilla Augusytn -- another tough match against the veteran double specialist. I fear Pia will lose.

    WD Q2
Lita Nurlita/Nitya Krishinda vs Fong Chew Yen/Mooi Hing Yau -- the INA pair should qualify.

Goh Liu Ying/Ng Hui Lin vs Meiliana Jauhari/Shendy Puspa Irawati -- with both MAS players being involved in the earlier matches, I think Mel/Shendy can progress.
    MD Q2
Chan Chong Ming/Chew Choon Eng vs Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan -- the match of the round. I hope Bona/Ahsan can beat the experienced MAS pair, although the odds are not that high though.

I'm shocked to see Kuan Beng Hong handling Tommy Sugiarto comfortably in the rubber, 21-13. I expected Tommy to advance to the main draw but...

Tommy Sugiarto lost (as expected) to Kuan Beng Hong 16-21, 24-22, 13-21.

Meanwhile, Alamsyah Yunus has progress to the second qualifying round after beating Bobby Milroy 21-17, 21-14. He will face Lu Yi next and I don't think he will win that
