Most of the sporting goods store like SportMart should have it. Or you can even try to call up some of the chiropratic clinics, they might have it too. Good Luck.
Hi, There are many things that can help wrist strength- 1) Use a squash racquet to hit the shuttle (what i am doing now) 2) Use something similar to the Carlton Speed Trainer 3) Use this ball thing people are on about (ask Kevin) 4) Lifting weights All these will help improve the strength of your wrist Matt
i prefer the roller ball, i have it at home and it's something funny to have in your hand while you turning it, and you can use it by your pc when you dowloading something
Hi all, I just had a look at the ball thing and it looks wierd. This really does help build up strength?? Matt
ball thing Hi all, I posess this ball thing (basic version) for a week now, and my experience is as follows : - A little practice is needed to get the hang of starting this thing - At full speed, the forearm muscles get tired very soon, i think this is where the results must be gained - Once at full speed, it is hardly possible to spin it even faster, so holding it longer is the factor you can improve in - Holding this thing hurt your fingers at a certain speed. This is a bit annoying. - You really have to hold it tight, but it doenst feel having 30 lbs in your hand - When this thing is somewhere in the room, for some reason you grab it all the time. - Starting it with your thumb instead of with the cord is more difficult but fun to learn. - I don't know if it suits as a replacement for other workouts, but as an addition, it will do fine. - Today i will have a badminton session... see if my smash is more powerfull Yong
Hi, I think i have to see it in action so notice and appreciate what it really does because all i saw with the pic is a plastic container with a ball inside, and a cord lying beside it. I dont see how this really works, but as Yong explained it does seem to work. I'm knocking up with a squash racquet at the moment and have noticed a change in my power. But let me know how you get on and if it really works. And by the way, congrats corey0528 your thread has my 100th post!! You dont win anything Matt
by me did it work but yes it is by me a - point to that you always grab it again and you need to practice to stay it turning
I remember the Dynabee was real popular about 20 yrs. ago, but I see it's still around. I've never tried it myself. Wrist curls and extensions (reverse curls) work well. There is also a new device on the market that uses the same principles of resistance, but apparently has a coil spring instead of weights, so it is very portable. I haven't tried it either. I've always liked the wrist roller. You can make your own by attaching one end of a cord to a weight (suggest 5 lbs.), and the other end to a piece of pipe or wooden rod (suggest 3/4-in dia.) in such a way that the cord doesn't slip. You hold the rod directly out in front of you with arms fully extended and weight resting on the floor. Alternating hands, roll up the cord and bring the weight all the way up. Then, reverse the action to let it down. Repeat as many times as possible. Rolling with the palms up works the forehand muscles, palms down works the backhand muscles. I first saw this device at a camp given by Sombat 24 yrs. ago and have used one since, but didn't see another until I recently visited the Orange County Club. So, since they have it, some people must still find it useful.
How to strengthen your wrists. Need help. How to strenthen the wrists? Need that for flicks , back hand smash and defence. Anyone?
Re: How to strengthen your wrists. Broom-buddy or something that was on ebay awhile ago... tie a weight around a stick with a string, and "roll" it up and down with your hands to strengthen them. Here's a cheap and quick method: grab a 2L soda pop bottle, and fill it with water to desired level (4.5 pounds when filled to top). take any spare rope/shoelace/ethernet cable (i have lots of these) and tie it around the neck of the bottle with a tight/strong knot. Now tie the other end to the broom, and wrap excess string until there is 2 feet of spare string between the weight and the broom. Tape up the rope so it doesn't slide. DONE! I'm using by bike pump and old shoe lace actually.... works great.
