Off topic-Hmmm.. ..who is da man behind Djarum Badminton club??..hmm, let's just say he is a person with a lot of passion & love for INA badminton and badminton in general.......As a proof, just take a look at all of the recent success Djarum's badminton has had..
Indeed! If not for Djarum's commitment and passion for badminton, players like Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki, Rendra Wijaya/Fran Kurniawan and to certain extent Shendy Puspa Irawati will have rotted in Pelatnas with no outside exposure Look at how Rian/Yoke prosper after just a few tourneys Compare that to Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan who is supposedly of the same batch as them They are not even sent to Dutch Open where they could at least enter the SF and fight for honours with both Rian/Yoke and Rendra/Fran. Even Hendra A. Gunawan (25 yo now)/Joko Riyadi only managed to get more exposure this year. Rendra Wijaya managed one Final appearance in a GP event in his 2nd tourney under Djarum's flag. Fran Kurniawan also managed to get into another Final (JPGG Indonesia Challenge with Ade Lukas) and a couple of Semi-Finals this year (German Open and Osaka Int Challenge with Sigit Budiarto). He is even exposed to the All-England, Singapore and Indonesia SS + 2 more GP Gold Events, something that he will probably never have dreamt of if he's still in Pelatnas. Even Yoke still has yet to compete in the All-England That's why Rendra's decision to quit Pelatnas is wise and kudos to Djarum for letting him partner Fran again and producing a good result in the past week. Looking at the Junior pairs, even Wifqi Windarto/Afiat Yuris Wirawan look more promising than Fernando Kurniawan/Subakti. Edo is even paired with the unfortunate Lingga Lie in the upcoming Vietnam Open Lingga needs to get out of Pelatnas and perhaps pair up with Yoga in Singapore?
Fernando/Subakti had better results compared with Afiat/Danny Bawa or Afiat/Wifqy. Poor they rarely sent to any tournament, PBSI no money to send them. So do Lingga Lie, had good record paired with Yulianti but PBSI splited them with Lingge/Devi & Tantowi/Yulianti. Sound good if Lingga focused in MD paired with M. Rijal and please no more Djarum's player move to Singapore following Eng Hian, stay in Djarum is better. 2 Djarum's players in SIN are Ardian Kusnanto (ex Belly Gunawan/Ardian pair) and Danny Bawa C (ex Afiat/Danny or Komang/Dany pair in Djarum)

Lingga Lie still got high apprecciation in Djarum, by choosen him in PON/National Games 2008 candidate (who I noticed this team is 1st choice of Djarum, but posible to be changed if Olympics players won't allowed to play there) The team limit are (3 MS, 2 MD, 2 WS, 1 WD, 2 XD) The Candidate are : Andre Kurniawan Andreas Adityawarman Bandar Sigit Pamungkas Luluk Hadiyanto Yonathan Suryatama M. Okay...I did overlook the German and Dutch Juniors Edo/Bakti indeed beat Wifqi/Afiat in the Dutch Junior Final 21-16, 21-18. They went on to win both tourneys Wifqi/Afiat also reached the SF of the German Junior and lost to a Korean pair Chung Eui Seok/Kim Young Sun 20-22, 21-11, 20-22.
So.. ..(back on topic)... With Rian's Dutch Open title this yr, after winning it last yr w/ a different player, will he (Djarum's coaches) forge/experiment a new partnership, w/a new player, for next yr?? Or will Djarum keep Rian's and Yoke's current partnership from now onwards??..
I don't think Rian and Yoke will be split They are both only 23 this year and should aim to win the World Championships in 2-3 years time. The same goes for Rendra and Fran.
Step by step, Rian-Yoke... Djarum does not have any better players than Rian-Yoke outside Pelatnas... The other 2 Djarum players that can argueably match these guys are Luluk and Ahsan who are in Pelatnas... I think badMania predicts correctly, it is highly unlikely that Rian-Yoke can qualify for the 2008 Olympics [unless Luluk-Alven and Joko-Hendra both got injured]... It is more realistic to aim for the 2009, 2010, & 2011 World Championships... In the meantime, Rian-Yoke should aim to win a GP Gold tournament first... Then go the semifinal of a Superseries... Then actually winning one of the Superseries... So far this year, only Cai-Fu [3], KKK-TBH [3], and Lee-Jung [1] and Candra-Tony [1]... Gosh, even Kido-Hendra did not win any this year, eh? But Kido-Hendra have won several Super Series level tournament before winning the World Championship... Yup...step-by-step is the keywords. Steady but good progress is more important than a sudden burst then nil (aka Luluk/Alvent in 2004). Depending on the draw, I am predicting them to go far in the Russian Open GP Gold. As for Super Series, depends on draw and luck too.....very hard to say I would say the SS after the Olympics would be a good bet since most pairs have already been exhausted and would likely rest. World Championships....hmm.....its either 2010 or 2011. 2009 would be a possibility if Rian/Yoke have established themselves well next year and collect as many playing hrs against the top pairs as possible. So far, a victory against Lee Jae Jin/Hwang Ji Man remains their only victory over a top 10 pair.

Just a simple target for this week's Denmark Open SS: Beat a qualifying pair (likely to be a home pair) and set up an encounter with either Luluk/Alvent or Albertus/Yohan. A QF result in Denmark Open SS will be tremendous and it will be interesting to see how Rian/Yoke fare against Luluk/Alvent (if both pairs win their first match).

This morning , my friend said something funny , she said Rian is "Fargenic" ( it's mean , rian is good looking when we see him from far away , but so-so if we see close) .
