Amazing kid. But I think it's wrong to presume that he'll be 10 times better than his peers in 5 years time.. I've seen a kid start badminton at age 11 and becoming the state no. 1 after only 1 year, beating kids who started training from 5, 6.

Still, if he continues to improve I think he'll be playing for his state sometime in the future, to play for Malaysia would be too far into the future to predict.. ;) IMHO anyhow.

I am truly envious!! Imagine the possibilities in taking up badminton this early?! It does not assure anything, but at least, he is in the right track

I agree with you, starting young doesn't guarantee success. A champion at age 8 doesn't really mean much when it was achieved through tons of training. Similarly, someone like Han Jian can picked up the game at age 16 and later became world champion. Some kids did not make the grade even though they started young because they are not so talented. All of us must recognise the kids are playing on the men's court. Physically, they are not expected to hit to reach full court. In the pursuit for excellence, many young players succumbed to injury due to overtraining. It is very important that young players are protected from such injury and stay healthy.

BTW, the kid only started lessons once a week for 11 months ago. The intensity is not much more than most recreation players.

I can't stop smiling while watching the video! So cute and talented. I hope he will go far. And yeah I wish I'd be as good as him when I was his age. I don't think I'm as good as him now. Hmm.

Amazing! I can't imagine what he can do 2-3 years from now. He has everything in the making of a world champion. OK don't pressure him too much. :)
