its more convenient for him n his family with Malaysia PR status ... plus if he decides to stay and develope the mix double for malaysia to the standard of world class (which he has done before) ... we have more hopes for more golds n trophies .... isnt it a good thing for malaysia ???? i think its a great step !

Yup, Rexy apply for the PR status, and he was surprised to get it in less than 2 years as it normally takes 10 years.

Successful application of PR status and fast tracking occurs in other countries such as Australia (as one example). It depends on the special skills of the applicant and the need of the country for those skills.

Just to chip in on Rexy's (tri-citizenship) status..

Regarding Rexy's new status, i thought it's just a Malaysian PR?? Similar to green card in the U.S. or Canada?? If so, then he's not a citizen of M'sia, yet.;)
As far as his status with England, the last time i chatted with Rexy, he told me he & his family have a British citizenship...or maybe not??..
As far as his Indonesian status goes, as far as i know, he should still hold his Indonesian passport..not sure abt his wife & children, though..

    But, check this out:
Indonesian law prohibits anyone from having dual or multiple citizenships. If one is caught holding dual or multiple citizenships, s/he must relinquish his/her Indonesian passport. And in most cases, the authority will only check the status is one wants to extend his/her Indonesian passport. If i remember, in the renewal application form, it'll ask whether "You have applied or become a citizen of such and such country". And the only way a person can extend his/her Indonesian passport, eventhough s/he is a citizen of another country, is to lie/not tell the truth. This is true, at least for U.S. But then, of course, we are talking abt Indonesia here..:p
Now, if he & his family still hold the Indonesian and British citizenships, i don't know what type of special compromise was given....If i have a chance to chat with Rexy again, i will ask him briefly abt this..:p
*I think this law is similar to China (and another country, which i forgot) as well, as they don't allow dual/multi-citizenships(correct me if i'm wrong)..Entering those countries, will require visa(additional fee)..:p

Most countries, including the US, do not allow their citizens to hold multiple citizenships, except for England, Australia, NZ and a few others. However, there is nothing in any country to prohibit one from having multiple PR status of various countries but keeping only one citizenship. As a matter of fact it is better to have PR status, except when you want to be the PM or President of that country, as it gives you the flexibility of the rights and benefits of more than one country.

i am pretty sure someone threw some words around here and there for him to get his application approved so fast. it is not surprising if that is true.

he is still the citizen of indonesia.. for both british n malaysia, he jz hold the PR status.. PR is not same as citizen as they may not have some special rights that hold by the citizen

chris, not only indonesia, malaysia also prohibited his citizen from owning dual citizenship ;) i think what rexy mean is tat he own the PR n not citizenship

    Actually..

..(i forgot to mention)taneepak, the U.S. DOES ALLOW dual citizenship and it is perfectly legal, though it is not encouraged in case some problems arise from it..See reference below:
    http://www.usimmigrationsupport.org/dual_citizenship.html
    http://www.newcitizen.us/dual.html
    http://www.richw.org/dualcit/
As a matter of fact, here's a link showing a list of countries which allow and prohibit dual or multi-citizenships(not sure how updated it is); quite a few to my surprise;):
    http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0oGkySn6...**http://www.sgwiki.com/wiki/Dual_citizenship
..yes, thanks for confirming that, winnie..So, in that case, i think Rexy might've said he has a British PR instead of British citizenship..will confirm, if i have a chance..;)

Many non-PRs and non-citizens do own real estate in Malaysia. I am not sure , but at one time there was a certain monetary limit or that freehold land was excluded.

The Thomas Cup Heroes back to 16 years in 1992, none of them get Dato pangkat....

    Dato Rashid Sidek? No.
    Dato Foo KoK Keong? No.
    Dato Kuan Meng Heng? No.
    Dato Jalaini Sidek? No.
    Dato Razif Sidek? No.
    Dato Cheah SK? No.
    Dato Soo BK? No.

But they got somethings that in more valuable than the title of Dato....

Mine one? not even worth 1 cent:D:D
