    I watched yesterday and today.

    For Yesterday, i came around 6 pm....and

Best Match was, Schenk/Grether vs Maeda/Suetsuna
1 st game the crowd behind the japanese since they played very good defense...but then they made some unforced errors in last points, so their opponent caught them up, and take the 1st set. Second game just like 1st game..this time the japanese played very clean game and took the 2nd set. both pairs seems ran out of gas in the 3rd set, but with better posture, the european manage to win the match.

the crowd was very fair in this match. they supported pairs who played good rally. At the end of the match, they got standing ovations.

For me they were equall, but the european had better stamina. There are funny things in this mtach. the japanese always shout ah..uhhh.....oohhh... (in indonesian ears) when they fell or made errors....it made the crowd were laughed...i think that sounds remind the crowd (male) about japanese porn movies...hehehe

Wong Pey Tty vs Lena FK/nielsen
Very good game, Wong showed that she was the queen at the match. remind me to ge fei..very dominant in front of the net..the danish lifted the shutlled most of the time...then Chin showed her power...very strong smashes...but the danish also show good defense....it was very rare of change for them to attack..but when they got the change..they used it well...Fortune went to malaysian...

    Peter GC vs T Sugiarto

Different class...Gade showed his quality much better than tommy. better placement, better defense, better attack, better mental....about 3000 people behiind tommy, as supporter and coach..hehehe...they always told tommy how to play...match result tell that they are bad coach...

tommy managed to win the 1st game more because crowd terror to gade...in the next 2 sets peter showed strong mental and went to 2nd round

    Pia Zebadiah vs sara Person...
For me Pia is not so talented...ada yang bilang gini..."pia geraknya lambat banget"....trus dijawab ama temennnya..." abis udah pendek..bantat lagi"..hehehe. Over rated player. her smash look like drive...and not have variety of shots...no game plan at all. played same tactic from 1st minute until last minute...sara made many good winner..but also many un forced errors...seems like she ran out of gas at the 3rd set

Cheng shao-cheh vs Maria febe kusumatuti
I have watched febe since 5 years ago...when she still in Primary school...this skinny solo girl was big enemy for djarum kids at the time. now she became djarum girl. Now with good postured...tall (compare to other indonesian player) she has very light movement, good dnet...good smash...has game plan...better than pia(for me)

It was not took a long time for febe to know that cheng backhand from back court is weak...than with good net...she controlled almost the whole rallies...but cheng just like horse...chasing all the shuttle...while febe like her senior at djarum (maria kristrin) is not so good at finshing..made many errors...in the 3rd set cheng read febe's tactic...she was not hit backhand from back court...she hit drop shots....febe was not anticipate this conditio0n....then inexperienced febe lost to taiwanese

    For today match (10/05/2007)
came late about 7 pm...takes some pictures... then watch some matches

    Polii/Marissa vs ZTT/Yang Wei
Chinese pairs has better power....the speed are equal...but the chinese made fewer errors...ZTT and vita mostly played in front of the net...Ina girls has good defense...vita made many clear points from her defense...
but with fewer errors...the chinese take the 1 st set. in the 2nd set...ina girls played clean.....when score at 20:20...zhao ting ting smashed shuttle on the line..but the line judge said it was out...ZTT scream...vita and greysia lift their hands, like say sorry to the chinese...they also know that the shuttle was in...then yang wei smashed grey serv..but it was out...ina took the 2nd set...
In the 3rd set...at 7;4 to chinese....vita seems often hit her upper leg (paha)...then when the score 10:5..she asked for medical treatment....light injury....after that..the chinese win the set...easily...

Chan chong ming/Hoon Thien How vs Lee jae jin vs Jung Jae sung

Very good match....as usuall...malaysian MD always has strong defense....Jae sung keep smashed..but malaysian keep the shuttle back to korean court.....most of malaysian points came from clear defense winner...and korean errors....malaysian played better game...they deserve the win...

    Dear Chandler,

    Thank you for your posting.
I would like to enquire, in your opinion, are the line judges are biased towards indonesian player in this tournament?

i heard players like Lee Chong Wei, Kenneth Johanssen complaining alot about bias judgement. (KJ even threw his racquet in anger agains Andre0

Can you please comment on this?

Kenneth and LCW were complaining about very very close calls... I saw all their matches up close. The kind of calls that were made was very very very difficult, it could have gone either way [in or out]... milimetres away, not even centimetres...

And since badminton still does not use the kind of technology tennis uses....In these kinds of cases, good sportsmanship is needed laaahhh... ;) All their complaints only made the fans even more rowdy & ferocious in supporting the home-player against them... :D

    Thank Krishna,

So in other words, it's not bias la.. it's just close line calls... then i hope it continues in this tournament..

Kenneth often gets very worked up about line calls doesn't he? I think he should focus on the game more and don't let it affect him too much. He's just going to lose by even more if he lets it get to him...

i cannot give you any comment about LCW and Kenneth, since i didn't see their match...

For me....Line judges doing bias judgement once at vita/grey vs ZTT/YW, twice when tommy vs gade, ...once when nitya/nadya against birgit/carina...

since their human..i think we can call it normal...i dont know about other matches...

We are always interested in getting on-court reports, from fellow BCers; it is very interesting to hear your first hand observations and comments. I don't suppose Istora has an internet wireless connections like Singapore? it would be nice otherwise, but we will take whatever is available. Thanks!
